I am feeling great. I am eating healthy and getting used to calories and MFP and feeling positive for the first time in ages. My motivation is holding strong but I'm still nervous to say this out loud just in case I am reporting a different picture tomorrrow or I go completely off the radar.
I am the classic yoyo dieter starting and then falling off after a few days or a week. Now I am starting to see that little changes are having a huge impact and I just love logging on here and reading posts and getting support.
Exercise is proving difficult for me as I am not keen to join a gym yet or join a class for fear of embarrassing myself. It is so dark and cold when I get back from work so I am missing my walks. Any help with this would be gratefully accepted. Have a good day everyone.
Hello Hidden , glad to hear the healthy changes you have made are working. I remember being amazed to lose weight consistently without starving myself and still eating the same way now to maintain. Exercise makes you feel good and uses up calories, but not completely vital for weight loss. If you eat healthily it will still come off. Maybe just try to do a bit more at weekends. Wishing you all the best.
Hi I am so glad you feel positive and also the benefits of losing weight already.
Why not stand in front of the mirror and shout "I am doing this, I am feeling great because I am in control of me" It's a bit like syking yourself up for a fight lol.
As sailsalot has said do more at the weekend and lovely weekend walks maybe planning where, how far to go in the week will give you something to look forward to.
Congrats on your weight loss so far, looking forward to hearing if you managed any walks also let us know if you make it to the gym as I don't go at the moment but it keeps popping up in my head to try it.
Thank you I like the idea of weekend walks and will let you know about the gym. I don't think it's for me though as I had a 6 week trial in the summer and I felt too self conscious although I have to say everyone was very helpful 😊
Well done on sticking with it and feeling great! And don't worry about reporting a sudden shift in attitude - I think that's what's so great about the forum It helps you let your feelings out, so you don't feel you have to hold it in if suddenly you don't feel so on top of it Fingers crossed you continue feeling great and motivated!
I can't afford to join a gym and can't currently find time to go to exercise classes (also that costs money too!) I have bought some home equipment An exercise bike that lives in our front room, a mini-stepper machine (this was only £30) which is small and hides in the corner, a 10 minute work out DVD (Davina!) and a weighted hula hoop I find this gives me a lot of variety so I don't get bored. I've got a cute set of weights too lol. Which come in handy with the DVD and just general strength-workouts.

I'm liking the sound of your home gym! A weighted hula hoop sounds fun too. Will see if I can maybe get a second hand exercise bike as I guess I can watch tv and exercise at the same time!
If you live in a house with stairs why not spend 15 or 20 minutes walking up and down them each day after work fast enough to get your heart pumping - it's a bit bizarre and might feel a bit pointless but at least it's something and is safer and warmer that wandering around in the cold and dark - you could then increase the time and intensity as you improve - you might have to replace your stair carpet eventually but no pain no gain lol
You can always try walking on your lunch break. I started off doing my swim on my lunch break because that was the only time I could get over there to do it. Do you have somewhere nice nearby (like a park) you could walk in? And it also has the added benefit of getting you outside when it's still daylight!
That's very true. And sometimes just getting out and moving around can help wake you up. I think if I didn't leave my desk at lunch I'd fall asleep in the afternoon.
