Great idea

I heard on the radio this morning of a youngster doing trick or treat tonight but was going to be asking for a tin of something out of the cupboard so that they could donate it to the homeless / foodbank

Great idea! I was actually talking to someone about the idea of handing out vegetable crudites, instead of sweets, but not sure how popular it would be!
