Do you allow yourselves food treats in the week?

If so what do you have?

Hi Elin15,

Yes, I do have what I consider to be 'treats' in the week - I always have some dark chocolate (just one piece) after my evening meal with a cup of coffee, and I really savour it. I like dark Pistachio chocolate, or dark chocolate with hazelnut - those are my favourites.

I also make a no sugar version of the Banana Fruit cake (adapted from the NHS recipe), and often have a piece of that at some point in the day with a cup of tea! I have that most days.

On the weekends I have 'extra treats' - I have a bag of good quality crisps, just a small bag, but I really look forward to having those at some point over the weekend. I also have a bottle of cider or a small glass of wine with meals on the weekend evenings.

The reason I consider them to be 'treats' is because I really enjoy them, and look forward to them, and they help keep me on track. If I denied myself those treats, then I think I might end up over-eating at other times, but as it is I feel I don't deny myself things. I also make desserts for the weekend evenings - for example I made a non-sugar apple crumble for last weekend, and enjoyed a piece on Friday and Saturday and Sunday nights with a scoop of Pralines and Cream ice-cream (I wait till those ice-creams are on special offer and then bulk buy them!). I do weigh the scoop, and only allow myself a 50g scoop of ice-cream.

What treats are you allowing yourself?

Lowcal :-)

Ohhhh that sounds nice! Well I have a huge addiction to crisps! haha so I was thinking of buying a pack of snac a jacs as a compromise? Otherwise I would relapse.

:)

I do bake a lot for my husband but I tend to stay away from eating it otherwise I would never stop

Thanks for your reply, very inspiring and controlled diet

Hi, have you tried French Fries (crisps) only about 80 cals and as they are quite small you get lots in a bag :)

I have about 100 cals of chocolate a day. I know if I didn't I'd just resent it and go back to my old ways of 500+ cals a day of chocolate - I know which is better for me :) Not perfect but much improved!

Hi, my treats are crisps like walkers stars or puft, sweet and salty popcorn, kitkats, jaffa cakes, highlights, crab sticks, yogurt and fruit, crispbreads with extra light mayo and ham or philidelphia light. The hard bit for me is stopping at one or two treats!!

Good luck with your weight loss plan. x

I love crisps so I have them as a treat in the evenings as part of my diet.

Been thinking that these treats are dangerous but I think from reading here if you take them in moderation then chances are u can maintain things...will look out for the banana recipe i love cake...

I have 5 caramac buttons at night, a packet of crisps as a treat during my lunch, I sometimes have a cornetto (140cals) if I want a bad dessert and occasionally some smokey bbq almonds, oh and hot choc but really strong (to stop me from adding sugar or milk) so its less water per powder

I'm trying to get away from using food as a "treat". Whilst I enjoy what I eat, it's really no more than fuel for my body. I'd rather save my money and buy some nice new smaller clothes :)

Interesting to see what floats people's boat. I'm a chocolate fan myself but have one square of very high cocoa dark choc which works out around 50 calories. I lust after Snickers but don't go there for obvious reasons.

I feel that treats are important. Like the others have said low cal crisp, small bars of chocolate etc. I also like bags of popcorn from asda the good and counted ones.
