I'm 5 ft and age 33, have a demanding physical job, I aim for about 1600 calories, suddenly I've been experiencing hyperglycemia symptoms, constant hunger shaky, feeling sick, I haven't got diabetes, wondered if I wasn't eating enough or the right food?

Hyperglycemia symptoms?
Hyperglycemia is where you are having high blood sugars. Total opposite of hypoglycemia (low blood sugars). Have you seen an Endocrinologist about the issue? If so, what did he/she say? What do you usually eat? Are you counting carbs.?
I've started cutting down alot on carbs such as potatoes as I seemed to get the symptoms around carbs, no haven't seen an endocrinologist, I eat fruit yogurt, cereal, alpen bars, popcorn, low fat crisps, porridge.....
You seem to be very low on protein foods. Maybe try to ensure you have some protein in all your meals, perhaps stay away from Alpen bars and low fat crisps and eat more vegetables
You may want to look into seeing an Endocrinologist and have them set you up with a diet specialist who can figure out how much of carb./protein you may require to eat at each meal and snack.

I have hypoglycemia ie. Low blood sugar problems. I recommend seeing your GP to get advice, but to me it does sound like you are getting low blood sugar. If your job is very physical, you might need to eat more calories? How did you calculate your cals? The NHS BMI calculator is good.
Also general tips for hypoglycemia are -
AVOID SUGAR AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. Sugar makes your blood sugar go up then down.
Stick to complex carbs, and personally i recommend eating starchy carbs in small amounts, if at all, although you need to find what works for you.
Always eat protein with every meal or snack.
Eat lots of veg and some healthy fats.
Stick low GI food in general.
☺
Agree that your calories seem very low 😕 I know it's difficult but try to eat as much unprocessed food as possible, vegetables, wholemeal carbs and lean meat. And as others have said, sugar can be a problem 😕Even fruit juice can cause problems. On 1600 calories only about 10% should be treat foods like crisps and cereal bars I'm afraid 😕 Swap for piece of fruit, veg sticks, oatcakes etc
The good news is you can get around this by eating properly, smaller meals more often. 😊
Good luck
What kind of small meals could I have?
If you aren't diabetic then it's because you aren't eating enough.
Hypoglycaemia is very hard to achieve with a working pancreas as it tells your body when sugars are low and will use your reserves. I would take a look at your diet and perhaps include more protein as it gives slow release energy. My partner is a T1 diabetic and when he has a hypo he goes into a daze very quickly and has no idea what's going on. If you are worried about diabetes get yourself a glucose meter and if it's below about 4.3 when you feel shaky, or higher than 7, 2 hours after eating that could be a sign. He tends to have hypos at around 4 with the lowest he has got down to was 2.5 with the worst attack.
