Born in 1969, I was always obsessed with my weight, since... I ever remember, and I was always classed overweight acc. to BMI, then I slowly entered "obese" ranks in 2008, so joining this forum in 2015 was one more manifestation of pursuing yet another weight loss plan .... My lifelong mission! ;)) But now, after one year of following this fantastic community of incredible, brave and adventurous and inspiring women, I can say that I'm slowly tackling some of my bad eating habits (not just the side effects which is excess of my weight)! So I wish everybody here: continue your enthusiasm in sharing your personal journeys towards healthier eating and happier lighter life! Keep up with fantastic job to help this community members living their dreams!! (and I will try too, by doing my fair share in it). Best wishes!!! Krista.
PS. As of June 2016, I weigh 84kg and to be in my healthy weight I need to lose 24kg (ca. 3,5 st) - will keep you updated!

Hi snap born July 1969 amd also have had a weight problem since 13 when my parents first put me on diet and I have been on one ever since. Just also signed up for the winter solstice challenge so hopefully this will help as have no motivation or goals and am perimenopausal amd have raging hormones! Am five foot one and 11stone 12 and really need to loose weight but haven't lost a pound since January so really hoping this site helps
Hi yes I know that feeling, for years I was feeling on and off like "I need to lose weight but I haven't" which was my continuous lack of ENOUGH motivation. In my case, I was slowly feeling coming on a shift in my mindset when I realised that most things in my life is a struggle, and I didn't feel appreciated at times, so I also needed appreciation (=attention) from others on my weight loss journey. So then things got so bad at home and work that I started counselling sessions to help me feel better about myself. After a year I felt stronger inside, but it took me another 2 years to realise that: First I need to improve my low self-esteem (I still carry on with help from books, you tube presentations and prayer-meditation) which lead me to strong belief that YES I CAN DO IT, I CAN MAKE CHANGE IN MY LIFE, so now when I think about wanting to lose weight, then I also contemplate daily on the ways I can achieve it, because each of us will choose their own unique way of tackling this particular issue with your eating - mine is emotional binge eating of sweets. And now, when I manage to refrain, then I do it JUST FOR MYSELF because I value myself. Sorry if I am a bit chaotic, it's lots I could write about here, so this community gave me real examples of people who go through similar issues to mine and if you read the numerous posts then you can always find inspiration or even solutions for yourself Keep reading and if you want write back (I only started last week at the start of WS challenge). Good luck! :))
It could of been me writing that and not you! I am reading all sorts of self help books and taps especially by loiuse hay and jon gabriel. I had cb therapy two years ago to help with stress etc as was signed off from work for a couple of weeks. I seemed to have lost myself and really need to be able to find myself again! I am going that once a personal situation resolves itself by the end of the year I can go abroad for the first time in 14 years so that I can actually go away and get a reast!
Amazing isn't it?? It must be then our age group ;)) I just think we are all nice, sensitive creatures who search for some comfort and compassion as we go through, sometimes not easy, life events. Personally, I fell in love with teachings of Wayne Dyer who was a big friend of Louise Hay. Now I will gladly "check out" the other guy And if I may mention in here - I keep my Christian faith and try to grow in love for my neighbour This all helps me be happy with myself, thus happier with my healthy eating choices! let's carry on then on our ways!! Wish you really all best Jodyelliot and that your travel plans will come true!
After reading your post ,I think that is why we can succeed , everyone on here is the key to helping each other . I have been using the forum since March which is the longest I have ever been on a healthy eating and exercise regime since I was 30. Just as I have had ups and downs but its the support from here that keeps me going on those down days . I am almost at my 10kg goal lost and now thinking I might even manage 2 stone by xmas which would be the biggest achievement weight loss ever for me.
Keep going with your own goals and good luck with the challenge!
Thanks Dish but that's wonderful what you've done! It's been a long time since March, I can tell you! And fantastic result - you will keep it off! Keep enjoying your new ways of eating and exercise each and every single day as you go! "A million miles journey is made of single steps, one at a time" (my version of a famous saying ) Best wishes! X
Just one important correction! Even if it seems that the ladies are playing main roles on this website, I give my biggest respect and gratitude to many Gentlemen who are writing incredible posts too! Much appreciated! (since I joined last year) X
Wishing you success with your weight loss goals, and hope you have a really great week. I know you've been a member for a while now, so you've probably already read our Welcome Newbie post, but do have a look at the Pinned posts area, as there are probably some new posts from when you first started. Glad you've joined the Winter Solstice Challenge, and wishing you a great week ahead.
Thanks a lot Lowcal! for all you do for this site every day! For EVERYONE'S posts here, esp Fab5 (e.g. I love Moreless's thread on running) Yes I was shying away for a loooong time just reading, but I'm encouraged now to write something ... and hope I will do it again soon! have a nice rest of week! X
Hi there Winter Solstice is a challenge that you can sign up for (started officially on 19th sept but I'm sure you can still join in), which will last until 19th Dec or so. At start you post your current and your goal weight, then every Monday you post your progress. To join, best if you follow the "Winter Solstice Challenge" thread which you can find on right hand side, when you open on your account the bookmark "my communities", and then "NHS weight loss" (sorry it sounds complicated but can't explain better). Hope that helps a bit but let me know if you have any problems! Good luck x
