Morning Sezgil,

Firstly, Congratulations on losing some weight since you've started, but I know you're feeling despondent about re-gaining a pound this week.

I'm wondering if you're eating sufficient calories. Many of us use the NHS 12 week plan, and the NHS BMI calculator is tailored to give a calorie range to suit a person's individual needs (i.e. it is based on your weight, activity levels etc). It might be worthwhile double checking the recommended calorie range, using that tool and a link to it is here, if you wish to do that:

I'd also recommend reading our Welcome Newbie post, which is in the Pinned posts area, and is full of great suggestions and tips, and may help to inspire you, as well as highlighting what is going on in the forum.

Maybe join in a Challenge (again in the Pinned posts area) or the Monday group weigh-in (see the Events section to find the latest thread).

Good luck, and hope this week is a good one for you.

Lowcal :-)

Yes, I agree, 1400 could be too low, especially with the amount of exercise 😊 Try eating more, and see how you get on 😊 Good luck

Hello,

I'm a bit sceptical on the "are you eating enough calories" argument? I realise it is a very popular view that more calories can = more weight loss, but it just strains credibility for me. Every calorie you eat you've got to either burn off or store, so increasing intake might mean losing less?

I wondered if perhaps you have inadvertently been eating more than 1400 calories, and that this might be why the weight is not being lost? It is a very common thing that we all underestimate our intake.

Do you count very carefully or do a best estimate? It might be worth doing a week where you really measure and weigh everything you eat very carefully to minimise mistakes. Then you might find that you do lose weight on 1400 calories.
