If that is a standard size dinner plate I would say that looks like perfect portioning. That's exactly how my nutritionist told me to portion food. Split your plate into quarters - 1 quarter starch, 1 quarter protein, 1/2 veg.

Hi Starsparkle,

Yum, I like the look of your meal, and I think you've got really good portion sizes there. It looks delicious too. Colourful and tasty.

Lowcal :-)

I never have more than 3 small potatoes - but then I am a pudding fan, so have to keep my carbs for later!

I actually thought three potatoes too but I gave myself a couple more as my main problem is snacking , especially night time snacking! So I wanted to feel extra satisfied to avoid snacking, hopefully in time I can reduce the amount xx

Better to have a larger portion of protein (meat or fish or nuts) - carbs will give you a sugar "high" followed by a dip which will drive you to the biscuit tin in the middle of the night....

Your portion size is largely fine, starsparkle (no pun intended). The only thing I'd suggest is the removal of a couple of potatoes. However, if you're also exercising regularly, I wouldn't worry about the amount of carbohydrate on the plate.

I would cut back on the potatoes and add more veg. You'll get the same amount of food for less calories. Vegetables are filling as well
