Hi Gareth,

I'll pin this post, and link to the last one:

Here's to an excellent week ahead.
Happy Running!!!!

Welcome in the big family of crazy people who run for fun
I hope you enjoy your running and keep going in the future, it is a great way of losing calories (not always weight... it depends on how much is your intake!)
I will post about my story as a runner (from couch to half marathon in 6 months, back to couch in a week for 6 months, back to running again but still obese now aiming for normal weight and marathon running in a year) another time, for the moment I just wanted to say well done to you for starting and keeping your running
have a great week
all the best
Marco
Hi Marco,
Thanks for your very kind reply and to wishing us welcome to the runners for fun community! Your story sounds like an interesting one, and it would be good to hear about it!
Thanks for the good wishes, and I hope you also have a fantastic week.
Lowcal
I have joined a couple of fora in this community and I have posted the story here in the Marathon Running and Race Support
the link is
healthunlocked.com/marathon...
is there a better way to refer to a post? Should I re-post it here? I see you are administrator so I thought I would ask
Marco
Hi Marco,
Generally people post 'running related' posts in the other communities - i.e. like you did - doing your post about running in the Marathon Running and Race Support, so you've done the right thing.
gareth0073 started this 'Running Challenge' in the NHS weight loss site, as we are just doing a bit of running to lose weight - and it seemed nice to join together here to do that, rather than go into other communities.
You've linked well to your post about your running, and that's a good idea to let people read more about your as a person and your achievements - I would say that's a really good way, and if you don't 'lock' your post, then it means anyone can read it, no matter which community they happen to be reading it in.
Hope that helps. There are no 'hard and fast rules' to where people post, but different communities guidelines can vary - so you can always check them out.
I am going to read your post now!
Lowcal
p.s. I've read it now, and it's an inspiring post!
Hello everyone. Stuck again this week, but honestly I'm pleased and amazed after the week I've had. Been out on a shopping/lunch/cocktails day with my daughters in law, dined out TWICE with my husband and didn't get my usual Friday walk as my friend was in New York. Three more weigh ins before the wedding and still 3lbs to lose. My plan for this week is to put in extra effort and go for 2/3 swims on top of my usual walking regime. I really need to pull all the stops out now! Have a good week everyone, hope I have a weight loss to report next week. x
Hi Bingbong,
I think you've posted in the wrong place, as I can see you were looking to post in the Monday weigh-in group, so I will copy and paste your reply to the right place in a moment, and I'll tag you from there so you can pop by to read my reply to you - hope that makes sense, but this is the C25K thread, so you've slipped into the wrong place.

Hi Gareth and fellow runners,
Firstly I am missing moreless as I know she'd be here running vast distances, but I'm hoping she's doing some runs away on her holidays, and that she'll be back to tell us all about them.
I know this is the final week of this Challenge, but I would love to keep the running challenge going - maybe by calling it 'A few runs a Week' or something like that - not sure if you'd like to keep going with it too gareth0073 ? I know Moreless was quite keen when I talked to her about it recently.
Anyway, I digress, I've done my first run of this week today - it wasn't as hot as it has been, and that definitely helped. I ran along the cliff-paths, and I loved every moment - somehow I felt 'lighter' (even though the scales this week didn't share that enthusiasm) - but I felt energetic and full of life, and the scenery was so lovely - I felt really good!
I hope everyone else is having a great week - Sana786 where are you? Claire2stone - are you still running? I miss you both!
There were others at the start too - where are you all? Please keep going - if you still want to. It's fun.

Hi lowcal π life and work commitments got in the way a bit but in Sept when the kids go back to school I will have free time everyday so will definitely be running atleast 3 times a week. I really enjoyed it but I ran out of time and running at 9pm not good for getting to sleep !! I'm really glad your still enjoying it still. Well done π
Thanks Claire, and I'm really glad to hear you're planning to run again once the kids are back at school - I bet you'll enjoy those September runs, and hopefully we'll still be running by then too, so we can accompany you 'virtually' so to speak!
Yes, I'm still enjoying it, and hope to do 3 runs this week, all being well.
Have a great week!

I did c25k two years ago know and have carried on running I know run three or four times a week doing 10k plus a time. I had a heart attack three years ago and have had to complete can get my lifestyle. Hope you enjoyed it
Hi Zest , sorry for disappearing on you like that for last few days. I have been on a roller coaster of emotions over the last couple of weeks and been really distressed as well. I am still not over all of that but at least I feel like I need to get back with you all to overcome this. As you can see I am struggling with my sleep too, nothing seems to be going very well at the moment for me. I am still doing the C25K but wasn't putting the results on here as I was too far away from you all. I do love your idea of continuing with the runs as I feel it has just about atarted giving me the strength back into my legs to actually be able to run againππ .
P.S. I need to start the 12 week plan again as I got left behind on that again due to Ramadhan and have not been able to get back to it as yet.ππ¦
I missed you all as well and there was not a single day when I didn't rhink about tou.βΊ it is good to be back and hopefully it will help me with my emotional situation as well.
SanaβΊ
HI Sana,
I'm so glad you've returned to the forum, and you're back with us. We missed you!!! I know you've had a roller coaster of emotions, and I know you're still not over that, but hopefully you'll manage to cope and get through this, and I'm really happy to hear you're still doing the C25K - please don't worry about what week each of us are on - I've just been 'running' the 3 runs - and I sometimes only made 2, but it was good to come in here and mention them, and get support from the others. So do pop in here too - and like I said, we'll hope to keep a running slot open in the Challenge window - so we can continue to support each other.
I see you're considering re-starting the NHS 12 week plan - maybe consider doing the Re-boot Challenge (see the Events section) - because it might help to spur you on to do a weekly reflection post. Just an option, if you thought it would help.
Whatever you do, don't put extra pressure on yourself, just do whatever you want to - to motivate yourself the best way, and hopefully you can de-stress and feel better as time goes on.
Great that you're back Sana, and have a lovely weekend.
Lowcal
Go you C25kers- fantastic challenge - well done all of you
Hi Gareth and fellow 'runners'!
I have done my 2nd run of this week, and I was in the gym on the treadmill. I started off thinking 'Right, I'll do 5km.' Then as I was running I thought - 'Maybe I'll do 8km...?' so I kept running, and by the time I'd done 8km, I thought 'Why not see how long it takes to do 10km' - so I carried on and I did 10km on the treadmill at an incline of 1, and it took me 63 minutes in total. I was really pleased!!! But I got a 'burn' mark on my chest after all the friction of the running - hope that goes soon!!!
I am thrilled!
I will do my 3rd run over the weekend.
Hope everyone is enjoying their week.
Lowcal
Wowwww Zest !10k is absulutely wonderful! Tou definitely deserve a π for this as it calls for celebrations! πππ. I am so happy for you and wish you all the best for your next run!ππ xx

Hi runners!
After some encouragement from the lovely members of this community I decided to take up running. I did my first 'mini-test run' today while out walking my dog. I didn't run for very long or very far but I still think I did better than expected. I have a BMI of 38.1 and didn't think I could run at all! I'm pretty anxious when outside doing any form of exercise in front of people but I am hoping that will fade as I get more confidant and fitter.
Sazkia x
Hi Sazkia,
Great - you found us! Well done for doing your first 'mini-test run' - and great that you did better than expected. That's a really motivating start, and I bet your dog enjoyed it too!
Here's to you gaining confidence when out running, and getting fitter - great to have you with us in this thread.
Enjoy your next run. I'm hoping to do mine on either Saturday or Sunday - not sure which day yet.
Have a lovely weekend.
Lowcal
Hi everyone,
I didn't manage to do my 3rd run this week, but I was pleased that I did the 2 earlier in the week, and in total I ran 15kms, so I was very pleased! This has been a fabulous Challenge.
Hope everyone has enjoyed it.
gareth0073 - many thanks to you for organising it and keeping us all going. I know that moreless and the others would also want to thank you too - so I speak for us all in saying that.
I know that me and Moreless would like to continue with some running each week to complement our weight loss goals, so I don't know if you want to continue to do a Challenge post, or if you'd like one of us to keep it going - please let me know what you think, as I think it would be nice to have a running Challenge for those who just want to do some regular runs (at whatever level we want to run at in any particular week).
But do let me know what you think. I think Moreless is due back from her holiday soon, so she can also let us know her thoughts on it.
Lowcal
Update: This Challenge is on Pause currently, as I'm waiting for moreless to get back from her hols, and also gareth0073 to give me their thoughts on the potential of keeping a Challenge thread about 'A Little Bit of Running to Complement Weight Loss' going - so as soon as we work something out, we'll post the resulting Challenge thread.
Hi Lowcal,
First of all, many congratulations for getting that first 10K under your belt and at such a speedy pace!! Well done you, that's fabulous!
Huge thanks to Gareth for getting us started and introducing us to the wonder of running, it's been a real eye opener and I've enjoyed every minute of it
I'm very keen to keep this challenge alive and kicking on the weight loss site, as I believe the two things go hand-in-hand very nicely. I'm sure that between us, we can come up with something
Well done to everyone that has started on the road runner path. Remember, life can throw us some curve balls, but those running shoes are always ready to transport us to amazing places!
Happy running everyone, kick up your heels!
