So I have a confirmed diagnosis of BPH and im asthmatic . I gave up smoking 17 years ago and ive been putting on weight since.During my ultrasound for BPH my liver showed fat deposits so I need to start doing some exercising and lose weight . I have an ankle problem so has to be low impact exercises . Im a shiftworker (london underground) so my body clock can be a bit dodgey .

Hello and welcome to the NHS weight Loss Forum Downthetunnel 😊. (I love your user name by the way 😂)
I also have ankle problems but have lost almost 3 stone with minimal exercise. The key is portion control 😊
I'd like to invite you to join our Newbie Club, which we hope will be a good place for you to connect with members, who are also just starting out. If you just post a few words to introduce yourself and respond to others there, you'll soon break the ice. Here's the link

Is there a calorie counter anywhere on the NHS diet plan? Thanks
Yes there is Downthetunnel 😊. If you follow the link to the 12 Week plan there’s a calorie checker there
Also, you can use google, or check packages 😊
Good luck

Ok So day one. Porridge and a banana for breakfast .
This morning , housework and make a cottage pie with cauliflower and cabbage on the side . Have some at lunch time and then take a portion to work to keep me away from takeaways . Got some shin of beef and a stewpack for tomorrow .
On Lates until Saturday , then nightshift Sunday and Monday ... with a trackwalk on Sunday night ... interesting week ahead
Hiya
Sounds like you're ready to make some changes.
The BPH should just mean you have to go to the bathroom more I thought? Or do you have other things going on with that?
I was diagnosed with that awhile and was taking Tamsulosin for some time - give it up for a reason I won't go into - but it definitely helped reduce feelings of needing to use the toilet and improved my quality of sleep dramatically.
Make healthy eating a priority and don't get too hung up on big time exercising yet. Once you have got some weight off that will help with your ankle issue- maybe think about swimming?
Excellent low impact AND good for asthmatics.
Good luck!
I had to get checked for prostrate cancer . If you have a diagnosis of BPH its worth getting your PSA checked . Its not a fail safe but its a good indicator , as well as Tamulson I also take finistrade which helps reduce the size of the prostrate .
My asthma is well controlled , my main problem has been my ankle , I had a lateral tear of a tendon and I have sinus tarsi syndrome .
I work shifts which is my main problem with my weight
Good luck! We are here for you.
