Hope to lose weight

Hi MMCI here. My daughter is getting married in about s years time and I am planning to lose 2 stone before then. Am in my late fifties . All advise that works welcome!

Hello, what a lovely reason to lose weight 😊 I also started out losing weight for my sons wedding ❤️

I have lost weight slowly and steadily by following a generous plan with regular treats, initially 1lb a week slowing to about 1/2 lb a week. I have also gradually increased my exercise from zero to walking and indoor cycling twice a day 😊

A year is quite a long time, so could you have interim targets? Say 12 weeks like the NHS plan?

Hope. Humm, that sounds like you expect to fail. You will have to use more positive and assertive words.

Set short goals to aim for. I now aim for 1 lb per week. If I loose more then it a celebration. In the past I tried to loose more a week but I was only setting myself up for failure and then threw in the towel. My goals as I have said are short. This enables me to adjust my expectations without feeling overwhelmed.

Writing or logging everything you you eat before it enters your mouth is a good wake up call and you can decide if The calories are really worth the pleasure. My fitness pal is a good place to do this.

It was a shock to me to find out how much I was consuming and how few calories I was using.

Good luck my advice is only eat real food avoiding processed foods which hide calories. I am now 62 so I think it's never too late to take control. I started 30 days ago eating healthily and cycling tried running but hurt my back I have been cycling though. My stomach is flatter now for my hols in ten days but will keep going even on holiday . I think if you make healthy choices it's inevitable that eventually weight will reduce. I am keen to start swimming as an exercise. I managed to fit into 34 inch holiday shorts I was in 38 inch before. I have stopped drinking beer and wine as that was my Achilles heel. I am going to try to wait till December 25 before I have my next drink of beer or wine!I wish you every success🚧
