dear Trosan, we were all newcomers to start with so do not get discouraged. any movement is good and you are so smart to start off smaller to get started. I want to lose 20 pounds to start with and have lost 13 so far. (not sure what that is in stones as I am from Texas but you see what I mean) I need to lose about 100 pounds all together but if I put it like that it is too daunting to think about. I have started moving, I dance around the house and ride my stationary bicycle as my thighs are rather large and if you will forgive the info, kind of rub together. anyway, as I say, all movement is good movement and you will feel so much better once you lose that first pound! when I lost my first 2 pounds I wanted to jump for joy! I have been doing this for about a month and I am excited most of the time to weigh. I suggest though that you only weigh once a week. I fluctuate when I weigh every 3 days and it can be a bummer. also measure all you can as you will lose inches even if you don't lose pounds one week, maybe pounds the next. Count calories and move move move! I love this forum, I feel like I can tell people anything and I never feel judged. it is what keeps me going. Good luck and stick with it!

Hi Trosan,

Welcome to the Weight Loss NHS forum. It's great to hear you're going to join the Monday weigh-in group - it will be lovely to have you on board with us.

I had my gall bladder removed a few years back. I don't know if you're having yours removed, or just the stones, but my experience of having the operation was very positive. I hope yours will be too.

Wishing you success with your weight loss journey. Have you read our Welcome Newbie post yet? It's in the Pinned posts area, which is the top right-hand-side of the homepage, and it's worth a read.

Many of us are following the NHS 12 week plan, which is really good.

Enjoy your first week.

Lowcal :-)
