Hi All.

I've recently had a chance to think about my health and no matter how much I try to avoid the fact I'm very over weight and really need to take my health more seriously. I've recently turned 40 and also had major surgery on my spine and this has given me a massive reason to lose weight I hate being over weight and really want to look nice in what I wear instead of looking like a shack of spuds . So I've decided to bite the bullet and leave the fad diets behind and lose the weight the right weight by eating healthy and cutting all rubbish foods alone, I hope that I'll get the support I need from other members of this group . xx

Hi Bev2016,

Welcome to the Weight Loss NHS forum. I hope you'll enjoy being part of our community. It's a supportive and friendly place. Do have a look at our Pinned posts area, and specifically the Welcome Newbie thread that is posted there - as it's got lots of very motivating posts from forum members, and was put together by moreless .

If you'd like to join our Monday group weigh-in, then you can find the latest post in the Events section - below the Pinned posts.

If you're not sure where the Pinned posts are - just access the homepage and look to the top right-hand-corner - and that's where they will be.

Have a great weekend.

Hi Bev2016, from one Bev to another you will find this forum so helpful, I visit it on a daily basis to read people's success stories and if I can help & advise like everyone else does. I need to lose quite a lot of weight and hit rock bottom after Christmas I joined the forum 5 weeks ago and the 12 week plan works brilliantly, you start to wonder what's in foods and make better choices. I think if you don't think "I'm on a diet" and see it as a life changing journey you will be fine, don't deny yourself anything add it into your allowance, you soon start making better choices when you only have so many calories per day. Good luck, keep posting of your progress. BevπŸ‘

Hello Bev2016

It was surgery on an arthritic ankle that prompted me to start on this weight loss journey, the pain and immobility was due to the weight, and that really motivates 😊

Good luck, have faith in yourself 😊

Thank you, I still have arthritis but thanks to losing 2 1/2 of the four stone I needed to lose, as well as massive increase in exercise and fitness I now feel 20 years younger 😊 I do feel for anyone with back problems, I am currently struggling with a pulled muscle, temporary issue, but incredible painful πŸ˜•πŸ˜•πŸ˜•

I hope you have success this time, it really is worth it 😊

Hi Bev,

Well done for taking positive action for your future health! I imagine the load on your spine will be reduced when you lose weight, and you will have less chance of future problems from general wear and tear if you can deal with the weight issues now. Hopefully you will find plenty of help and support from this forum. Have you considered swimming as a form of exercise which won't put undue stress on your spine?

Not what you're looking for?
