MOTIVATION BOARDS ALL THE WAY!!

Hi everyone!

I have been struggling to stay motivated lately, so I decided to turn up the heat and make myself a motivation board. I added quotes and images that I find inspiring, and included my NHS food and activity log. I also made it big enough so that I won't miss it!

Its a great thing to do on a free weekend and I have found it really helpful. So why not give it a go! :) xx

Love it! I just have my diary full of meaningful words of encouragement and a note pad at the side of the bed. Just for interest this is the type of thing a teacher would do or someone in education but I think it's great may do similar on the inside of my wardrobe where the mirror is. ⭐️👍

That's cool! Its good to have meaningful quotes written somewhere close by that you can refer to and to help pick you up. Its funny you mention education - i've been thinking about becoming a primary school teacher :) x

There you go you already think like one. I worked in a primary school and was always doing motivation boards and displays your board just reminded me of that. If you are interested in teaching it's a good career but there is a lot of pressures now and moving towards primary academies it will only get worse pressure wise.

what a great idea! lots of people say they struggle sticking to their calories at the week end, this would be a really good distraction.

Wow Joanne, that's impressive! :)

I have all sorts of bits and pieces, charts, pictures, lists etc, but nothing as good looking as that! Maybe it's time I got myself organised and did something inspirational, motivational and artistic! :)

That is brilliant what a good idea I think I will do one if that's ok with you

I find it hard working out calories for gravy , not sure what is the best bread to eat so any help you could give me would be great , but only if you have time , I so want to loose weight not sure if I am allowed to eat potatoes every day either ☹️ But I do think I'm sticking to my calories .

Brilliant board x

Hi Pamed!

Definitely have a go at the motivation board! It's a great place to put your food and activity log (if you're following the 12 week NHS diet plan) and it's really become central for my weight loss!

It's great that you're sticking to your calorie count - for me that's half the battle. The calorie counter offered through the NHS site is really helpful (nhs.uk/Livewell/weight-loss..., but I think the thing that has really worked for me is keeping a daily calorie tracker journal. I carry it with me wherever I go and write down everything I consume alongside their calories so as to avoid over/under eating.

I also plan my meals in advance. I tend to do most of my shopping from Tesco, so I write a list of ingredients needed for each meal and check the calories for each ingredient on the Tesco shopping online website. I calculate the calories per portion and I keep a record of each meal's recipe and calorie count so that I don't have to re-calculate the calories for each meal.

Weekly rewards is also a good idea, to keep you motivated! I don't know if you can see in my motivation board, but I created a reward grid. I set myself small targets during the course of a week, such as keep to my calorie intake, drink 8 glasses of water a day, go to the gym twice a week etc. It seems childish, but for each target I hit, I reward myself a gold star sticker. If I gain a certain number of stars by the end of the week, I get a reward during the following week, such as going on a picnic (with low calorie food options), getting a facial, buying myself some jewellery etc.

I hope you find this helpful. If you'd like anymore advice, I'd be happy to help :).

I think a lot of dieting and exercise revolves around trial and error - its important to try as many things as possible until you find out what works best for you. Calorie tracking, keeping records of meals and their calories, and having a reward system really works for me - it might be worth a try to see if they work for you too!

It sounds like you're already on your way to a healthier happier you!

Good luck, you can do it!! :) xx
