Hi Gareth, losing 5 stone is damned good going. All the best in hitting your target at 46 years old :-)

Well each time you jump "back on the wagon" you will have learned a little more, and gained experience in what works for you.

Perhaps you can find something to really motivate you - why not book a sailing or flying lesson, or diving experience (for example), in 6 months time, and promise yourself you will be fit and healthy on that date.  You could lose up to 2 stone in 6 months, and it just takes a little planning.....plan for each day as it comes.  Get an online calorie counter, organise some walks, or bike rides or exercise sessions in the gym, - whatever floats your boat as they say.

Hope it all goes well!
