Hi Rica1978,
Really glad you posted, and that you've been reading some posts prior to that. I don't know if you've seen the Welcome Newbie thread, which Moreless has put together, but it does have a lot of useful information in it about things that people in the forum have found helpful, and maybe you'll also find it helpful too, so here is the link:

Many of us are following the NHS 12 week plan, which is a great framework and a good resource, and I would recommend having a look to see if it might be something you might like to try. There is a link to it in the Welcome Newbie thread, or you can access it via the icon above (labelled Weight Loss NHS).
Also, the Pinned posts (top right-hand-side of the homepage) are useful, as they list some of the Challenges that are going on currently in the forum, and there's also a Recipe post too, if you're looking for ideas etc.
If you like the idea of a weekly weigh-in, then join us for the Monday group weigh-in - the latest link is in the Events section (below the Pinned posts).
Have a great week.

Hi Rica1978. This forum is great for help, support, and advice. Hope you can look at the link that Lowcal send for the 12 week plan as there is some great info on it. I have never tried Slimming World as I think its all about green days and red days and I am sure I would get confused. I am following Weight Watchers (old system not new pro points) at the moment as it means I can cook the same for the family but just weigh my portion out. All the info I have read on here and the internet seems to say that it is all about sticking to your daily calorie allowance. Takes a bit of working out but once you get into it I find it gets easier. We usually eat similar foods each week so once you have worked out your calorie/portion for each dinner you know what the stats are going to be each time. Good luck and well done for posting.
I'm the same - I still use my Weight Watchers cook books, but thanks to the forum tipping me off about myfitnesspal's website, I can convert these recipes into calories. This gives me a better understanding of what I'm eating and helps me to consider portions and types of foods a lot easier to enable me to follow the 12 week weight loss plan.
