I guess I've been lucky I've never had a problem with weight but over the last few years my weight has gone up, and at the moment I'm piling the weight on. I'm on beta blockers and high blood pressure tablets, which I've been told will slow my metabolism down. Feeling desparate 😢

There might be a number of reasons for your recent weight gain besides your medication ranging from boredom, (maybe giving up smoking)? to generally slowing up as you get older. Are you comfort eating or drinking high calorie drinks? You need to write down everything you eat or drink over the course of a day and you might be able to pin-point what is causing the damage! Then you can plan a more healthy and balanced menu to maintain or lose weight as necessary.

I'm in a similar position to you. Weight and size of clothes pretty much ok and constant until about about two years ago, but since then have gone up one or two sizes and put on one and a half stones in weight. Think the medication makes a difference but also know activity levels have gone down lots and eat for comfort too. Sick of clothes being too tight and uncomfortable and have tried diets before but have very little will power. However, the advice on this forum really good, just little things like taking one day at a time, actually calorie counting and weighing ( rather than points)' drinking more water etc etc are helping to keep me on track. Even though this is only my third day have been tempted to pig out twice 😱 but rrrrreeeeaaaallllyyyy need to lose weight not only for health reasons but also because I am fed up of clothes not fitting properly, being uncomfortable etc. Try not to feel down about it Patsie. Think with the medication we have to try to be more active which is hard if you are like me and are a it of a couch potato.
