The week from hell!

I've had enough of this week. Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong. I'm still eating healthily but no running since Sunday and no exercise since Monday... Oh dear!

I predict a disaster come Monday :(

Hey, Catmay, what went wrong? You're just short of graduation on c25k, aren't you?

Hope things get themselves sorted out. And even if this week is a disaster it's only one week! You'll soon get back on track!

You've been doing great so far, things will be OK.

Work is off the scale crazy, kids are poorly, I have a cold... You know? One of those. Just don't feel on top of it.

But you are right, things will ok soon. Thank you :)

It's that time of year, everyone's falling ill with colds. But spring is coming and then there's no stopping us! Get well soon! And hope the kids recover soon as well.

Still time to avert that disaster Catmay:-) Just cut down the amount equivalent to the exercise you would have done, or jump on the scales tomorrow and have a sneak preview :-) John

I like the idea of a sneak preview. And yes you are right still time to avert a complete disaster, I've scheduled in a run for tomorrow, the running gear is ready by the front door.

Thank you!

So you've faced a pretty tough week and you've still managed to keep on top of the healthy eating? Sounds like a triumph to me! And maybe you'll get out for a weekend run too.

Thank you! That was the idea behind posting this. If it's outside my head is easier to deal with somehow.

I'm not really one for measuring pieces of string....

For me eating healthily is staying within my calorie limit, lots of veg, fruit, water, carbs in moderation, complex and increased in relation to exercise and lean protein at least once a day.

Hope you feel better today! Sounds like you've been doing great!

i don't think this sounds like a disaster. A disaster is not eating healthily, eating everything in sight, AND not exercising. Try not to get stressed - or recognise that the lack of exercise is also affecting you emotionally (no good feeling buzz from adrenalin or whatever it is meant to be). i'm sure you will be fine, one week won't undo everything you've worked for. You may put on a bit and have to work to get rid of it, but it will only be a bit and now you know you can get rid of it. i've had to do this all the time as I keep travelling for work and staying in hotels and not doing anything except sitting (in meetings, on plane) and have no control over my food. it takes a couple of weeks to loose the extra weight, but its not nearly as bad as starting from the beginning again. That would be a disaster! so try to be positive and know that we are there to help you

Thank you that's so positive. Didn't manage a run again today as the other child decided it was her turn to be ill! It's relentless. But you are right, it will pass. I will remember that :)

Hi. You are having a tough week! It does not matter what the scales say - up, down or stay the same - the important thing is you have kept your focus and when things ease up a bit you can get back on with doing what you need / want to do to achieve your goals. If you are not well, you are bound to feel down about stuff. Keep going and get well soon.

CatRuns profile image
CatRuns in reply toAlisonayb

Thank you! That's so kind of you to say :)

Hi Catmay,

Sorry to hear you've had a crazy week regarding work, I hope your kids feel better soon, and I also hope your cold goes away soon too - it can be tough to contend with stuff like that, so I say 'Well done' for getting through a tough week, and brilliant to hear you're eating healthily. I think you were wise to limit your running and exercise till you feel better physically, as it can really help to recuperate.

I hope you're no longer predicting a disaster come Monday, as I agree with everyone's conclusion that it doesn't sound like a disaster - more like you've come through a challenging week and managed to cope. Well done Catmay. Your Sport's bra will be out and about again very soon, and you'll be back into your groove in no time.

Whatever the scales say on Monday, as I know you join us for the Monday group weigh-in, remember that you've survived this week and you've done well - and you only have to re-read all the amazing replies you've received to this post to know that people appreciate how well you've done.

I hope you feel better over the weekend, and that your cold disappears really soon.

Wishing you a good weekend when it arrives, and a great week next week.

Lowcal :-)

Just put it all behind you and think positive sometimes when I have done loads of exercise it doesn't show up straight away so just get back in control, and sort each problem one by one. I am forever writing lists in the middle of the night when things are not going well then I have cup of tea and can usually get back to sleep x

Yes! I would completely unravel without my lists (notice the plural!) :)

Don't despair, it sounds like you have done a great job of staying on track with your food even though you are having a tough week. If you're within your calories for your height and weight then don't worry about the exercise element of it while you're poorly. I'm convinced that food is the biggest part of it, having lost weight just through amending my diet. I hope you all feel better soon and then you may find you are more energised to carry on with your exercise. Sometimes when we're ill our bodies just need a straight rest to fight all the germs off, and if you add having to take care of ill children too it can be exhausting. There's a major war going on inside us so no wonder we feel lethargic eh! Good luck for your weigh in, I'm sure it won't be disastrous given that your food is on track. :-)

Thank you! It's so good to hear all the encouragement it has really kept me going today! I only managed to reply now (11:56) but have been reading everyone's messages all day! :)

Don't be too hard on yourself. Life is stressful and sometimes we can't always do the things the way we want to. I feel cross with myself tonight as I only started my new healthy, low calorie, eating plan (better than the word diet!) last Monday and this afternoon I have been munching biscuits as I felt sorry for myself after my daughter came home and was stressing me out and I found out that a good friend is very ill. Monday won't be a disaster but maybe not the numbers you were hoping for. But stuff happens. Maybe next week will be better and you can get back to your exercise. Hope you have a nicer weekend.

Yes, you are right you can't predict everything in life and it's all about the big picture.

I hope your friend is ok and that your stress levels decreased :) Thank you for taking the time to write such encouraging words!

No feeling so encouraging this morning. Had to go out for birthday meal last night and according to the scales this morning have just managed to undo all the work have done for the last 5 days! Why is weight so quick to put on but takes sooooo long to lose? Will just try and pick myself up and get back on it and not let one night stop me looking at the big picture as you say. Hope you have a good weekend.

CatRuns profile image
CatRuns in reply tomuffintop67

Os course! One night is not the end. Life goes on but it is annoying isn't it?

Good luck for the rest of the weekend :)

Thank you, I'm always keen to learn about nutrition. I think I fats from oily fish and nuts in sufficient quantities. My low level of energy at the moment is due to lack of sleep and a crazy workload more than diet I think. I do take multivitamins, vit d and iron as I find they help me.
