This is the 'Afternoon/Evening Session' of the Fab 5'ers Monday weigh-in group, so please post in this thread if you're weighing in with us this afternoon and/or this evening!
The Morning Session has gone really well, and please have a look at the thread if you want to catch up with how everyone is doing there:
To all you Afternoon and/or Evening Monday Group weighers - I wish you an enjoyable weigh-in. One of the Fab 5'ers (Prin, Suzybenj, Ruth_Canal_Runner, Moreless and myself, Lowcal) will ensure we respond to you. But please be patient with us, as we do have other commitments and might not be able to reply straight away. By the end of the day, everyone will have received a response from one or more of us.
Ruth_Canal_Runner has compiled our stats from last Monday's thread, which makes great reading:
Total people posting on last Monday's thread: 127.
Total overall weight lost: 120.3 pounds (54.6 kilos).
Total people who lost weight: 76 (165.4 pounds lost) (75 kilos).
Total people who gained weight: 23 (45.1 pounds gained) (20.4 kilos).
Total people who maintained their weight: 13.
Total people starting out on their weight loss journey/plan: 13.
Total people who didn't disclose their weight gain/loss: 2.
I should point out that last week, all the Fab 5’ers (Prin, Suzybenj, Ruth_Canal_Runner, Moreless and myself, Lowcal) all gained weight – gains are normal sometimes, and it just shows that it can happen to any of us at some point. Please don’t ever be put off to report a gain, as it can be a real learning curve and can really help to get back on track to share every result and gain some support. Congratulations to everyone who posted last week, and if you're reading this and wondering whether to join us, then please do - everyone is welcome!
Note for Newbies:
If you are joining this weigh-in group thread for the first time today, then welcome. Just introduce yourself and share your starting weight (if you feel comfortable to do so) and your initial weight loss goals – setting yourself mini-goals leading to your ultimate weight loss goal is particularly helpful. You could also make a note of your body measurements – sometimes the scales stick at a particular weight, but there can be body measurement changes which are very motivating. It’s not all about the scales afterall – it’s how you feel in yourself.
You can always refer to previous weigh-in threads if you want to see what other people typically post (just click on my profile, Lowcal, and you’ll be able to see a list of all previous posts which are all clearly dated).
Also, if you’ve not already seen it, then take a moment to read the ‘Welcome Newbie’ pack which is a Pinned post (situated on right hand side of homepage) which has been collated by Fab 5’er Moreless.
Wishing you all a great weigh-in!
Regarding my own weigh-in, last Monday I was 13 stone 0.8 pounds, and today I weigh: 13 stone 1.8 pounds, so I've gained 1 pound this week. This is the second week that I've gained some weight, but I hope to reverse that trend this coming week. I am a bit disappointed to have gained, but I know that if I keep focused and stick with the plan that I should see some results next week, so that is what I will do! I also need to get back to the gym, as I didn’t manage to get there last week, but hopefully this week I will go at least twice – that is my pledge as per today!
Onwards and downwards!!!

Yes, you've found us - really great to see you! Congratulations on losing 2 pounds, that is such a great start. Hope you enjoyed the week and wishing you another great week ahead.
Hi This is my first time of weighing in. I have been trying to lose about a stone for the last 6 months and have managed to put on another half a stone since Christmas. So today was the day I decided that enough was enough and it was time to change. I would really like to get down to 10 stone but think that after having 2 children and getting on a bit, a goal of 10 and a half stone is a more realistic one. So this morning I was 11 stone 10 pounds on the scales. So that means I have about 17 pounds to lose. All my clothes feel so tight and I am so looking forward to them fitting better and to no longer being able to call myself muffin top!!! I have been on this site over the weekend and have to say that the support I have found so far to be really motivating and really feel that this time I will achieve my goal. Fingers crossed!
I have read through the morning thread and want to say how positive and uplifting I found it. Everyone, whether they have lost, maintained or even gained, have posted with such determination and positivity that it has given me a real boost. Thanks all!
So, despite a sneaky peek at the scales on Friday, which showed no loss whatsoever (usually what the scales say on Friday for me, is the same on Monday morning), I was a little nervous about weighing in this morning, but thankfully, the scales decided to be kind and I have lost 1.5lbs this week, phew!
I'm 1lb down from last week. So that's 2 weeks in, and a total of 4lbs lost.
I'm pleased with the small loss because I've been staying at my partner's place, where chocolates and sweets are always available. I also spent the day in London on Saturday, but took a packed lunch to ward of junk food temptations.
Exercise-wise I met my challenge of exercising 5 times.
This week my goals are:
- to plan and shop for meals (already done)
- to do 5 exercise sessions, including 2 runs
I also going to try out quinoa porridge instead of oats. Apparently quinoa has more protein so should keep me full for longer.
Good luck everyone. I'm realising it really is just step by step.
Oo, I'm not sure. Haven't seen it since I was a kid, when I loved it, and I've forgotten all the names. I'm probably the short one who is 5 minutes behind the main group, desperately trying to keep up!!
Corporal Jones - I've just looked him up on wikipedia - hilarious character!
Hi lowcal, at least u know next week what u can do to get some of those pounds out the way. I'm sure Ul get it next week.
Well for me I would firstly like to say a thanks to moreless as she was right! 1400 cals (healthy obv) worked much better for me. I had much more energy and even managed to walk half and hour 3 times last week with the kids. Also did the exercise did too.
Was worried because weekend I got carried away with biscuits and had 2 naughty meals (homemade though) fish n chips and a choc bar. I thought I may have done some damage.
Luckily I weighed in 10st 5 so loss of 1.8lbs finally!
Well done moreless on ur 4lbs again this week!
Thank u everyone on here and good luck to everyone xxx
up by 3.2 lbs - I really didn't do anything since last week - my resolve to commit to my diet didn't get past Monday. This week I plan to make sure I do better, the fridge is packed with veggies and meal plans are in place!
Hi folks! Lowcal, maybe the trip away is still catching up with you, perhaps it takes a little time for these things to work their way through the system? So fingers crossed for a better result next week eh? Although I have to just say, you have done brilliantly with your loss and maintenance so never forget how far you've come - you're an inspiration to all of us!
This week I've lost 1 and 3/4 pounds. I actually did weigh again a little later and it showed an additional 1/4 pound lost but I'd already written it in my diary and shaded my chart, so my official loss log this week is still 1 and 3/4 pounds (please and thank you Ruth!). Just hoping I don't gain back that 1/4 pound by next week, hoping it will be in the bank for next Monday!
Yes, I agree that could well be the case. I will keep my fingers crossed for a good result next week. Thanks so much for your kind words.
Wow, you've got a great result this week - Congratulations on losing 1.75 pounds, that is really great!!! That additional 0.25 pound will hopefully contribute to your loss next week - that's a great start! Like you say, it should hopefully be 'in the bank' for next Monday - all being well.
Thanks for that, no I hadn't seen that. I guess the site is kind of a victim of its own success! I try to have a glance through the morning thread when I post for the afternoon weigh in, but I seem to find quite often that the reply button doesn't work. Sometimes it will work for the first few posts, but it seems as I go down the page liking more and more replies, eventually the reply button stops working! Then I lose my place. Ah well, I am likely to be here for quite a long time so I'll just wait it out, it's good that they know what it's all about. I suppose any major overhaul is going to be a big job and might take some time. I'm still just very glad of the site, even tho I interact quite a bit less lately. Tbh, I haven't got the time to keep persevering with loading/replying etc, because our cat is demanding a LOT of play time. The vet advised we keep her in for two months to be sure that she should come back when eventually we let her outside. The trouble is, she's 18 months old and still quite playful and is now itching to get out and chase the birds around and explore! So we have lots of toys and I can be found spending a good chunk of the day trying to keep her stimulated by playing with her. I suspect that when she gets into the routine of going outside she will be less demanding to "entertain" but for now it's important that she doesn't get bored or depressed and the house is a playground because she needs a lot of interaction! Oops, I turned yet another comment into a book...time to click the button me thinks - hope it works - lol!
Afternoon, sorry to hear you've gained. It'll drop off when you go to the gym! I was away this weekend so have put a naughty 1.6 pound on. I have not been good filling in my food in MFP so have set reminders in my phone to ensure that changes! I do go off the rails unless I'm forced to write everything down - too much typing ! One plus though, I did 2 miles in 21 minutes yesterday with my mini Shetland. He's lost 13kg with all our running this month. He's dead successful!!!
Thanks for your kind words, and I look forward to it dropping off when I go to the gym. Sounds good!
Hope you enjoyed your weekend away, and I know you've gained 1.6 pounds, but hopefully you'll soon get that off again. Great that you've set yourself some phone reminders to ensure you fill out MFP. Definitely a plus that you did 2 miles in 21 minutes yesterday, that is really great! Your mini Shetland is also doing brilliantly on the weight loss front - losing 13 kgs with your running about this month. Really great!
Oh well done Lis! That's a great result and goodness knows what you'll manage on a week with no social engagements. I shall look forward to a staggering loss next week
Week 8 and 2.25lb lost, this is working far too smoothly.Even have occasional days where I'm struggling to get to my calorie limit but some nuts or chocolate solve that problem.
I know you were on vacation last week and you didn't have any scales, so the fact you've maintained your weight at 67 kgs after a holiday is actually quite an achievement. I've managed to put on close to half a stone after a holiday in the past, but thankfully I tend to either maintain or gain about 2 to 3 pounds these days - so I am getting better.
But for you to maintain following a vacation - really, that is an achievement, so I am going to Congratulate you. I know you're upset, but I would really try to challenge that feeling and look forward to the week ahead, because now you're back in your usual routine, I would imagine you'll be seeing a loss on the scales for next week.
Thanks for all the questions. You really take the time. I am stressed, but I think my big problem is the weekends. I stick to the diet pretty well on weekdays. I always eat more than I should o weekends. I don't know what to do to control myself.
How about juggling your calories, so that you use fewer through the week and save some for the weekend, that way you can have some extras, without going over your allowance.
Stress also plays a big part, maybe you could try meditation, or yoga, or if all else fails, long soaks in a bubble bath with soothing music and candles
Try pampering yourself with something other than food, or booze
I will read your answer everyday for encouragement and see if I can stick to caring for myself. Thanks a lot for all the advice. I will try. Your ideas are good.
I have exactly the same problem. This week I used the NHS guide of no of calories for meals and then 'banked' the 280 per day (or as many as I could) for using at the weekend. I then had about 1,000 extra calories to use (mainly on Black Forest Gateau for my birthday!). Don't know if this may help?
Sounds very familar. Like you I can control what I eat in the week but at weekends when I have more spare time that's when the munchies attack!
I do try to have low calorie nibble in the house and if tempted by the higher calorie food then I try to limit the amount I eat to keep my calorie in take low. I do try not to have high calorie nibbles in the house but with young children in the house, I don't think that it is fair to them to not have the things they like here.
It's the end of week 1. 1lb off so 15.1. Was debating the best time to weigh in today, 1st thing in the morning or before I get a shower tonight so in the end opted for the middle ground & got weighed after lunch. Really pleased with the loss. Had a stinking cold so been feeling sorry for myself & glad I haven't undone the good work from earlier in the week. Onwards to another week. Wishing everyone a successful one 😀 xxx
Congratulations on acheiving a loss of 1.1 pounds in your first week, really good! Hope you enjoyed your first week, and glad you're pleased with your loss. It's a great start.
Hope your cold gets better soon, that is horrible to have a cold - and there are lots of them around at the moment. But it's the first day of Spring tomorrow, so hopefully there will be less colds to contend with as we get better weather.
Onwards and downwards - wishing you another great week ahead.
Thanks for you welcome email last week lowcal. I have made it through week 1 and weighed in this morning at 10.12, so 2lb lighter. Am trying not to get too excited, as I know from bitter experience, that it is the keeping going (particularly on those weeks that the scales don't co-operate) that is the really hard part. So, one week down, 11 to go! Have a good week everyone.
I am so glad that you've made it through week 1 - and I hope you enjoyed the week. Congratulations on achieving a loss of 2 pounds - that is a really good loss.
You're right, it's the keeping going that is vital to any plan, but hopefully you'll find it isn't onerous to continue with the NHS 12 week plan, and it should be enjoyable. Have you taken your body measurements to ensure you have other data to rely on - particularly on those weeks when the scales don't play ball? It can be really motivating to be able to notice bodily changes in addition to the weight loss results.
Wishing you another great week ahead.
Lowcal
p.s. I just saw your comment about Black Forest Gateaux, so wishing you a Very Happy Birthday! Hope you had a wonderful time.
Just saw your post, and it's great that you've lost 4 pounds this week, that is fantastic, Congratulations!
Hope you've enjoyed the first week, and glad it's working for you. You've made an excellent start. Weight loss is likely to be larger at the start, and then it usually eases to between 1 and 2 pounds per week, but it can vary from person to person.
Thank you! Yes - I was expecting 1 to 2 lbs. I ate 1400 calories a day- so I was amazed- though I won't expect anything like that again- it's very motivating😄
Well done 4lb is a great loss. I just started today and will be over the moon if I can lose that amount in a week. Even better when you been trying and not getting anywhere. Keep it up!
5.40pm I'm cooking some food now, but please keep posting, if you're joining us for a Monday group weigh-in - we are 'open' for weighers all evening! Even late nighters! You're all welcome!
One of the Fab 5'ers will respond to you at some point, and it's great to read all your posts today, really inspiring.
Enjoy talking and interacting with each other too - it's a supportive and encouraging group - so enjoy your weigh-ins.
Hi,I was having the same weight since many months, now I lost 2 lb in this week .I am happy,I try to control my food habits and follow calories but sometimes I cannot.
That's great news rukhsana! Well done for losing 2lbs
You must have been counting your calories and sticking to them quite well, because you've managed to lose 2lbs Don't be too hard on yourself, it's only your first week. Give yourself time to get used to the plan and it will become easier to stick to it
Lost 0.4lbs this week, so now 10st 13lbs. Weight is weird tho, weighed myself Thursday and had put on over a pound and was back into the 11s. Had Chinese Friday night (egg fried rice and chicken with cashew nuts, full portions, had to guess the calories) cut down to 500 calls Saturday and 650 on Sunday to make up for it, and am still in the 10s yay! Just mowed all the grass front and back (not good enough to be called lawns) to celebrate 🌿
Hello everyone I have just weighed myself and I am 14st 13.5lbs. I was 15st 1.5lbs last week so that is a 2lbs loss. That is my biggest loss so far and I am now into the 14s which I am very happy about. Aiming for another 2lbs next week!
Hi everyone hope this is the right place now did write a post this morning but not here. 1st week this week starting out at 16 stone 13lbs so I'm looking forward to a loss next week I want that scale actually moving in the right direction. Fingers crossed for next week. ☺
Put on a pound but it was my birthday. Back on track today with my calorie counting. The lighter evenings are making me feel a bit perkier. Hoping to report a loss next week.
Good to read your post just now. I am sure that you'll soon lose those lbs over the next week or two.
Despite not returning to the gym in the past week as I'm still not over the cold/flu virus and felt very drained all week, I am really pleased to have lost 2 lbs in the last week. Loss was due to diligently logging all that I ate and being very strict with myself as to what I ate.
Had a real attack of the munchies yesterday but luckily it didn't impact on my loss. Fingers crossed I don't pay for it this week.
Tinkle 72 - being unwell tests the best of us and you have despite this managed to stay focused and on task. Well done. As for giving in to the munchies - deserved I say - and you got away with it
Stayed the same. Happy with it as it is not an upward move. But aiming for a loss this next week. Starting week 7, on week 6 of c25k, but moved onto more variety in the gym. Now doing some weights and using cross trainer and bike. Trying to preserve my knees so don't know how much more running to do. Might stick to week 5 for a while.
Hi happy Mary- sounds like lots of moving around - which is great. My frustration with exercise is that it is so good for us and I always feel better for it---but alas it does not burn as many calories as I might imagine......:-). I still have to watch what I eat....
Sorry I'm a bit late tonight! I've now completed week 5 and lost 1lb, bringing me to 13 stone 10lbs. That's 12lbs in 5 weeks! Happy it's still coming off but bit disappointed it's only another 1lb lost, I have been sticking to the calorie count & exercising 3 times a week! Oh well! Best of luck to everyone for the week ahead!
Anew me - that is brilliant- 12 pounds in 5 weeks is schmazing- you should be very proud. the wight loss journey is perplexing but you have shown steady commitment to this- well done. You are 2 pounds off a stone - how fantastic will that be in say two weeks 'at only a pound a week'
Steady weight loss is what will reap benefits in the future as it is likely to stay off and Maintenence will be easier...well that is the theory anyway...
Anyway good luck for next week. Onward and downward
Hi Nicky noo - those pesky uncooperative scales - but better than no loss...but I do understand your frustration- I am impatient too for speedier results
My recollection is that you have been doing pretty well - the weight loss journey is not an exact science -and some weeks better than others.
I am sure you will remain focused and look forward to more next week.
Finally found were to post this bit tecnophobic! It was my first weigh In started at 14.7 and was 14.3 today so very very happy. I'm 5 foot 4 and 46 and determined to beat the middle age spread.
Really glad you found us ok. You've lost 4 pounds this week, that is really great! Congratulations - glad to hear you're feeling very very happy. That is wonderful.
You're well on your way to beating the middle age spread, and I hope you have another great week ahead.
Since August 2015 when I started on this wonderful forum I've lost 1st 10.25 lb and since April/May 2015 I've lost a total of 2 st 10.25 lb which is amazing for me and the best I've done for years with weight loss. I'm hoping as it's coming off reasonably slowly and I'm not on a 'diet' that it will be long lasting weight loss. Just 2 st 4.75lb to go to get to my 10 St goal 😁 and I WILL get there this time!
Midnight - I am off to bed now myself, and if there are any late night weighers, then rest assured that someone will reply - but it may not be till tomorrow morning - as the Fab 5'er team are likely to be all sleeping now.
Really inspiring posts today, both Morning and Afternoon/Evening posts - and well done to everyone!
Hi all. Had a bad weekend - movie night treats on Fri with my son, followed by comfort eating Sat and Sun only remembered to weigh in last night and my scales were dead! I'll try and get a battery and weigh in this evening but I'm sure there'll be a gain :/
Lowcal, I reckon your gain was just the settling of your break away and getting back to the gym will sort it!
Great to see you! Sorry to hear your scales were dead when you tried to weigh-in last night. Hope you're able to get a battery ok today, so you can weigh-in tonight. Just pop back tomorrow and give us your weight if you want to, as Ruth probably won't calculate the stats till later in the week, so you can still be included! Try not to worry too much about how the weekend went, as it's in the past now, and today is a fresh week ahead.
Thanks for your kind words on my gain. I do hope to get to the gym this week - all being well, so hopefully that will sort things out, like you say!
I have just found Jigglypuff_62's post, which she put in the thread dated 1st February by mistake, and infact whilst I was replying to her there I realised she was talking about something that happened back then, so it then made me realise she was in a different dated thread. Anyway, I've agreed to copy and paste her results here:
Today, Jiggylypuff_62 wrote:
"Hello Fab 5 and all you lovely peeps. Better late than never, weighed but forgot to check in with you. Last week I weighed 16.12.4, yesterday I was 16.10.4. I'm a bit disappointed because mid-week the scales said I'd got down to 16.8, but I did go out for a meal on Saturday night, then Sunday lunch with the in-laws on Sunday. I did try to make healthy choices on Saturday (salad starter, liver and veg rather than pasta in a creamy sauce or pizza), but I did succumb to a couple of drinks. Walked there and back though (15-20 mins each way). Great news on your inch loss Lowcal - I sometimes think that's almost better than the pounds coming off, because the difference is so tangible in your clothes.
Have a great week everyone."
I have already replied, so I won't repeat my reply here, as hopefully Jiggly will see it in the other thread. But for the stats, I wanted to ensure you get her results. They are excellent!
Lowcal
Hi Lowcal and Fab. Five,
I made a mistake with my weight in the morning session. I had just entered it and it was wrong. I am with 93,6kg and not 83,6kg. Itried to edit it but had already logged out. Sorry please correct it. It is definitely more again....
I have seen your conversation in the Morning session thread about this, and I note that Moreless has already replied. (Thanks Moreless, as you spotted Flower-Arranger there).
Ruth will be able to note that your weight is 93.6kgs currently, and I have checked back to your previous weight (22nd February) and it was 93.8kgs, so actually you have lost 0.2 kgs this week! So Congratulations!!!! Hopefully this is a pleasant surprise, as I know you thought you had gained weight.
Hello again I have put 1/2 lb on this week. Not too worried as a lovely Fri watching a movie with my son (with snacks) followed by a horrible Sat losing my auntie and - comfort eating throughout - tells me what went wrong.
I'm not dwelling on it - hopefully will be heading down again next week!
Hello! I started my 12 week plan on monday, and I have weight in at 9 stone (5ft 3 - so a healthy BMI) however I am near the overweight border-line so just hoping to shift a few pounds reading all of your posts are so inspiring so i hope this works for me!
Welcome to the Monday group weigh-in - it's great that you've started the NHS 12 week plan on Monday, and thanks for sharing your starting weight - I hope that felt ok to do so.
Glad you've enjoyed reading the posts, I agree - they are inspiring. I hope you enjoy the plan and that you also find it to be successful for you.
Look forward to seeing you in future weigh-ins, and also around and about in the forum.
Going downhill! Had a couple of bad weeks. Both parents ill, stressed at work and compensating with chocolate. Put 2 kilos on! However, it could have been worse and I am working hard at getting back on track. Homemade soup helps a lot. Good luck to everyone out there. x
Great to see you! Sorry to hear you've had a couple of bad weeks though. I'm sorry to hear that both your parents are ill, and that you've been stressed at work. I know you've put 2 kilos on, but like you say it could have been worse, and now you're working hard to get back on track, and I'm sure the homemade soup helps a lot - and I hope you have a less stressful week ahead.
Hi tomorrow will be my first with in starting point so no loss to post but my initial one. I would like to loose a stone and half maybe but it seems such an uphill task!😕
Hi Jody, I'm assuming that you'll be posting again tomorrow morning, as somehow you've managed to find the weigh-in thread from the 29th February!
Look out for the new thread being posted by Prin tomorrow morning, because Lowcal is on holiday at the moment. You can follow Prin and then you'll be notified when she posts
Don't worry about losing a stone and a half, you'll do that in no time

Argh! Complete failure this week, was away for friends and my self control & calorie counting slipped. My goodness the kilos have come back on quickly.
Gone up from 68.9 to 71.8 - a gain of 1.9 kilo, thats 2.2lbs ...
Next week I'll be checking in from West Africa, I am off there for four weeks for work. I do wonder how it will work out there - determined to use the few days at home to eat clean before hitting the road again.
