It was so lovely in Queensland today. Thanks to QD and her family for making us feel so welcome. The barbie food was yummy, washed down with ice cold beer. The entertainment was spot on and we all had a great sing-along to Elvis. Missing Rosie already (
The hot air balloon ride was spectular. Never been in one before and not sure I will go in one anytime soon. Ricky holding my hand helped tremendously
And now we are in Alice Springs ready to climb Ayers Rock. Good luck everyone and hold on tight
Just say that you wish to and give us any kilometres you may have walked, run, swum, rowed, cycled today, yesterday, or any day you can remember.
If you don't have a record of any, not to worry, you can start tomorrow, but we do need you to log on daily and give us your total, even if that total is zero
Funny old day today, I've had all sorts of problems with the site. Hard to log on, difficulties posting, or liking posts, not able to move from one place to another without having to refresh the page, notifications all mixed up. I've now taken Google Chrome off my computer, as it wasn't helping with the site at all and in fact was making things more difficult with other sites. My apologies if I've missed anybody and especially to you Liz, as I've been less than helpful today.
On the domestic side of things, I've had a great day and have been motivated by my granddaughter to keep active all day. She's put me to shame with the rowing machine and the hula hoop! She's only 7, but can keep my hoop spinning for ages and it is shoulder height on her! She's also a dab hand on the rowing machine and was very keen to make up my K's today, so if it's not cheating, my totals are
Walking - 5K's - accompanied by granddaughter in freezing conditions
Cycling - 10.8K's
Rowing - 1.2K's - all her work! What a star
Total - 17K's
I'll leave it up to you Liz to decide whether this is allowed or not
I also loved the hot air balloon ride Lizzy but before we flew away into the sunset I got in 17.09km of which 11.92k cycling ( into town, but it was soooo cold we put our bikes on the train to come back) and 5.17km running (at a parkrun event which was meant to be exactly 5k!) This is all I have to report for this week I'm afraid - it's been really rainy and yuck and I've been run down and busy - a bad combination! But I've got lots of good intentions for next week.
You completed you first parkrun Ruth! Yaaay you! Odd that it ran over the 5K's (pun intended)
Still a great number and I'm sure you're going to smash it next week

Was that your first park run ? Well done Did you enjoy it ?
Are you measuring your distance on your phone ? The GPS on them can be a bit iffy and not always completely accurate (mine never is, so I use a proper running watch for running), so that's why the parkrun distance might not show exactly 5k

No it was my 2nd park run - but my first was so long ago, in August, that I think it predates when moreless joined the forum. I felt indignant about the difference in distance as last time my phone said exactly 5k (it was a different parkrun, near my friend's in sw london) and my usual 5k route, as measured by my phone, has a very accurate starting and stopping point too. I think the mile end one yesterday has so many loop-backs and bends and turnoffs that there's a lot of room for extra metres to get added on here and there. I'm going to try a different, straighter one next time hopefully, possibly hackney marshes
Loved the balloon flight, amazing views. Not so sure about climbing Ayres Rock though!
Snow as forecast in the real world so progress was hampered slightly. Just short again of my 10k. Clocking in tonight at 9.1 kms 13723 steps. On the food front I haven't been too bad. Still no alcohol. Hoping for a small loss on Monday. 🎈🇦🇺
Ayers Rock, wow! We'll be red and dusty by the time we get up there. But what a view! I loved throwing the ball for QD's dog today and clocked up precisely 14 k in the process. The food was gorgeous and I too have never been in a hot air balloon before. Was a bit scared I might fall out - or through the basket. And I liked waving to the other balloons.
Thank you moreless (Will just not mention the pizza me and my friend shared for breakfast the following day, or the Chinese take away I had on Saturday night, lol -Didn't eat much else during the day though)
Hi fizzy Liz. Another slowish day but managed 4,256 steps today so I am Dr glaring myself officially on the mend at last!! I'll wait at the bottom of Ayres rock ...... I'm not too good at climbing but a pic from the top would be good 😉😉
That should, of course, read declaring and not Dr glaring!! Unless of course it was me glaring at this virus that seems to have attacked so many of us!! 😄😄
6901 steps yesterday, was really hoping to have done longer walk as it was a lovely day and virus symptoms much better but it's left me with no energy whatsoever, reading through posts it seems like this is sweeping the country! At work half the staff are off sick and the other half are only just managing to keep going. luckily I had saved a day owing so I have a 3 day weekend and I'm prioritising sleep in the hope I'll shake it off!! ☀️
I've literally just said to Sopmarfree that the challenge was becoming like a series of Doctors. Fingers crossed that you and everyone else are fighting fit very soon
Hi ther hope you didn't get caught up in the huge storms in Queensland, all of you should have popped into my place to dessert! 3.8kms and 6.2 to report.
Fitbit reading was 2.99km. But went out Friday evening minus Fitbit and walked to and from venue. It is about 1 mile each way. It can be counted or ignored as not an accurate measure 😉
Hi all, sorry for the late post - I'm still not well so in go slow mode at the mo I managed 6.5 km on Saturday (not sure how!!) And Ed did 10.6 walking and 12.7 cross training so 23.3 for him. Its his birthday today so i'm letting him off doing too much
Not very much for me on Saturday, just 2371 steps 😕 I spent most of the day with my wonderful friend and her amazing girls who are 14 and 5 its lovely to spend time together, especially when we don't get to see each other as much as much as we would like. Such a shame about the weather as usually we would spend a lot of time in the park.
