Its been non-stop since we arrived in Hongkong this morning. We took a Star ferry across Victoria harbour, visited the giant Tian Tan Buddha statue at Po Lin monastery, walked up to the Victoria Peak and now we are browsing the Temple Street Night Market. Tonight we are going to Yung Kee for Cantonese dim sum and onto Lan Kwai Fong's karoke bars for vodka jellies and a group renditon of Wogan's Floral Dance.
Hongkong holds fond memories for me. This was my first stop of my very own solo round the world trip back in October 1997. I loved HK - stayed with a friend of my sister's. Remember going to see the big gold Buddha and feeling very hungover - too many vodka jellies the night before
Happy Travels everyone

Oh I've always wanted to go back to HK, and here we are !!!😃
Today 3.5kms, I'm feeling a bit 'cream crackered', not sure if it was too much Ricky Martin or maybe not enough !! Lol
You do so much walking Flossie, that I'm not at all surprised you're cream crackered! I'll get Ricky to come and tuck you in
I've been on the Star Ferry - cost a penny to go first class if I recall correctly !! I was wondering why I didn't remember seeing the Buddha, but it appears it was only built in 1990, which explains why it wasn't there
My Floral dance is coming along very well - although I suspect a few vodka jellies would improve it !
Quiet day today and since I have to drag a 9 year old with me at the moment to go for a walk, we only managed 3.7k (although it was through the woods, so the dog probably managed double that). However, I have been tracking my own walking and running kms for the month of January and my total has been 290k ! That's just dog walks and runs, not measuring my steps or anything ! This challenge has certainly motivated me so thanks both Lizzy and moreless for such brilliant effort in arranging it all
I went on the Star Ferry numerous time Lucca, but my memory isn't up to yours, because I have absolutely no idea how much it cost! I didn't get to see the gold Buddha either
Don't vodka jellies improve everything?
I'm staggered with the number of K's that everyone is clocking up. I'm now doing more in a day, than I was doing in a week! Who'd have thought it?! I'm full of bright ideas, but it was Liz's genius that made it happen so spectacularly
Lizzy - I've been so out of things this past week and been like an annoying hitch-hiker who's told the same stories three times now. But I promise next week will be different - I WILL pull my weight After yesterday's run AND cycle, I'm determined to contribute more kms this week. Nothing to report for today. But I absolutely pledge I'll have either a run or a cycle to report tomorrow. Even if it rains, hails, blizzards, whatever. Happy travels
Thanks, and I'll do the same for you - it's merely damp here, whereas I'm led to understand your lot are contending with some proper weather that's slightly more worth complaining about!
Hahaha!!! Nothing like forward planning...sorry, cancel Thursday's ones till Thursday is over! I don't even know how or why I've recorded that! The rest are fine think I'm away with the fairies on my pain killers for back pain! Lol xx
Yes thank you life just getting in the way. We have visitors this week and between work, visitors, Wedding planning and an ill relative. I'm struggling to get time to post and get confused with all the different parts. I will put them all on today and hopefully will get back into it this weekend.
Oh fizzyliz! What a fabulous description! Capped off with the flippin floral dance song- that made me chuckle! This is making me realise that I haven't done nearly enough real world travelling! 😀
Anyway up, today I logged up 7.9km walking and 7.2km running- my all time record most running btw!- making a total 15.1km 😀
Back on the home front a more relaxing day. Still managed two walks but the snow was still thick on the moor. Today's effort 11056 steps, 7.4 kms. Really want to get my steps up to the 10000. Will try harder next week.
3.8 miles for me today. That's just walking around doing my day no long walks as its been torrential rain all day. Amazing how far you walk just doing everyday things but only 6,732 steps.
I wear a Fitbit HR. I wear it all day as it doubles up as a watch. So it records every step I take. They're great. It also tells me how many calories I burn what my heart rate is and monitors my sleep.
Not sure if I did post yesterday, and cannot find the thread (is it just me or sometimes older posts disappear from the search?!?)
Sat 12km, sun 12.25km.
This means that I walked a marathon in a week! Yay! (I count only the outdoor walk not having pedometers nor gym, and it has been awful weather, so double yay!!!) in total i did 48.75km...
Let's just call it 1km for Sunday. I didn't have Fitbit on all day, thought I'd have a rest from it the night before then forgot to put it back on until about 10am, so left it off for the day. Loved the balloon ride, and now all new adventures in HK.
All good here Moreless, family day yesterday. Rosie loved all the attention she got from everyone, she especially loved playing with Flossie358 & Lot to Lose. Gonti & yourself gave her some fussing too, FizzyLiz as well...she just lapped it all up. She played in her pool on Sunday...it was HOT.
I got my bike in the new year and have been able to ride it outside a grand total of 3 times! The rest of the time it's on a stand and is used like an exercise bike
Sounds perfect- great idea too, able to hop on for the odd 5 mins! I don't have a stand like that which works, since my bro-in-law lent me his stand but my bike has a quick release lever on the wheel... Piggy bank needed! 😀
hi there i'm glad that your happy with what i'm doing, it doesn't seam fair at 48 years old and having a body of a 90 year old, but its all i can managed hopefully be better tomorrow take care Alan x
It isn't fair at all, but sometimes life throws us a curve ball and it's down to the character of the receiver as to how it's dealt with. I would say you have real strength of character and are dealing with your curveball with dignity and fortitude

0.9km today. I am still not well and going back to doctor tomorrow. Have truly indulged myself today.. reading in bed, watching t.v., having a soak in a bubble bath. Hoping to speed up the recovery by slowing down. ☺
14643 steps = 10.28k for yesterday. The challenge is certainly helping me to keep motivated and keep moving (and I keep beating all my colleagues on our FitBit challenges too. Think they are getting desperate to win now!)
hi Anita i'm glad your getting there even though its slowly, i'm having a bad time over the last two days, my nerves and depression are rock bottom, don't know why, ive just dropped like a brick, take care hopefully speak to you when my head is straight big hug for you from me your friend Alan xxxx
I'm sorry yr struggling hun I do hope you come back up soon. I've had another chest X-ray and it shows that I've still got the chest infection that I got 3 months ago. Also shows fluid in my lungs. So I've started on the 4 th course of antibiotics and steroids again. Osteo is also bad so I'm in pain with my lungs and hip.
hi Anita i'm sorry to hear that your still going through the wars, i thought you would have had that chest infection cleared by now. it just proves our bodies are so weak that we can't get rid of illness like we could 20 years ago, it just proves how imperfect we are now. i'm sending you a big Alan hug to help you, my osteoarthritis is playing up so i know how your feeling there and fluid on your lungs to top it of, are you sure you would like me to come and help you it might cheer us both up. take care my lovely dear friend always Alan xxxx
hi my Anita yes i'm back to normal, whatever normal is i'm there, your right about one thing we are all perfectly imperfect each and everyone of us, there are people worse than what we are and i know it isn't going to get better, not just yet anyway. thank you for your loving concern, i'm finding more diamonds only this forum than in a diamond mine. please have a big hug from me to you my dearest friend your friend always Alan xxxxxx
Hi. 2.5k for Sunday as forgot to put on my 'trusty'? pedometer. Still, managed to teach granddaughter how to separate egg yolks from whites, so a good day!

There's a cough/cold doing the rounds - my mum is into wk6!!! Its really draining and I'm FED up. Champing at the bit to get back to c25k but feeling dizzy and to be honest walking is enough in the current gales force wind and rain!
