I'm 19 years old and have been advised by the doctors to start on the NHS diet plan to help me loose weight. I have tried so many diets and none have worked I'm starting to think i'll never loose the weight..!

Hi and welcome, have faith! If you want to loose weight you will! Yes you need to try and it will be difficult at times but the rewards of new clothes, feeling lighter, more energy and many other personal goals will be worth it, and yes I'm telling myself this also!!! Good luck to both of us!
jweight - the NHS plan is the only one I've found that has really worked for me. I'm MUCH older than you and have had a weight problem all my life, from being a chubby child, to overweight teen and so on. I was brought up to eat well on fresh home-cooked food, I don't snack all day or eat rubbish, but I have a weight problem. I've tried all kinds of diets, including doing Rosemary Conley diet and exercise classes for years.
The most important thing is to tackle it now, because it gets much harder to lose weight as you get older and everything you hear and read in the media about excess weight leading to health problems in later life is true - I've got high blood pressure and very poor circulation. The veins in my legs have collapsed and I have venous eczema, which isn't painful or anything but looks unsightly and could lead to ulcers if I'm not careful.
I've yo-yo'd all my life but never lost enough weight to really make a difference. Anyway, a couple of things (the state of my legs being one) convinced me earlier this year that I had to do SOMETHING, so I started doing the C25K running podcasts in May. I was c**p at running at school and hated it, but I graduated from C25K at the end of August and am still running - in fact I get grumpy if I can't get out and run regularly. Just from working through the C25K programme I lost 3-4 inches off my hips and waist and 1/2 stone-ish in weight. Then I started the weight loss plan in August - I've lost another stone and a couple more inches each from waist and hips. I haven't found it hard to stick to the plan and am now at the lowest weight (which is still too much but I'm getting there) I've been for about 30 years. I've done this on my own, at no cost, no expensive slimming clubs or plans, because the NHS plan works. Anyway, this is a long-winded way of saying if I can do it, you can do it. This forum is full of wise, funny, inspirational people (no, not me!) who will cheer you on, buck you up, tell you to pull yourself together if necessary, give you sound advice and generally be there for you. Do it for yourself, you will never regret it. I look forward to cheering you on. Go for it!!
hey you are not alone , im 16 and iv decided to join this , hope it helps us ey
Hi and welcome jweight
First of all, as you're so young and I'm so old and have made all the "dieting" mistakes there are to be made, please don't do as I've done in the past and start another "diet".
The NHS 12 week plan is designed to give you simple steps, that teach you a healthier way of living.
This is not a quick fix for christmas/party/wedding etc, but a complete and total lifestyle change that should last a lifetime.
It's not always going to be easy, but it will make you feel a whole lot better about yourself.
By being active on this forum, you'll get all the support and encouragement that you need and it's a pretty fun place to be
There's a Monday group weigh-in where we all gather to record our losses, gains or maintains, which is really friendly, non-judgemental and motivating.
There's also a kicking the kilometres thread run on a Monday, where we brag about how many K's we've managed to run, walk, or crawl
It's time to start believing in yourself, because if we can do it, so can you
All the very best to you on your weight loss journey
PS This is for you too dee
If you REALLY want something it will happen. If you're in two minds or your heart isn't in it, it will be a lot tougher for you.
