Hi everyone, I'm Linda I'm 44 from Leicestershire. I've never really had a weight problem until the last few years and now I cant seem to loose weight, I need to loose at least 2 stone. I've tried every diet going and nothing seems to work so I'm going to give this plan a go and I'm hoping being part of a community might keep me motivated as well . Cant really get to the gym ect as I work full-time and have a disabled son so Ive been doing workouts at home. NEED to do something now as gaining weight has pushed my self esteem to an all time low. Looking forward to reading how everyone else is getting on with this diet.

Hi Djdolly73 hope all this goes well for you. One of the administrators will be with you shortly to give you some info on the site.

Have you even been eating enough calories before. I never used to eat enough in a day in general life as I only ate around 1000cals a day and this was my problem. I never lost weight much and mainly only put on weight instead and I could never understand why. I found out on here that if you don't eat the amount of calories advised on the NHS bmi calculator tells you to have between this happens to you. Your body thinks you are starving it and turns what you do eat into body fat and this weighs more than eating the extra calories does so it stops you losing weight and sometimes puts weight on instead. I had a look and upped my calories and have since managed to lose over 2st and managed to firm up as before the inside of my body was just fat, so I am much firmer now. Please make sure you have a look and make sure you eat enough as well. You do get a higher amount than you expect. Good luck with your journey.

Hi , yes I think that may be part of the problem. Been sticking to around 1200 cal per day and the thought of eating more scares the life out of me lol but I'll give anything a try right now

Morning Djdolly73

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

Don't worry about not being able to go to the gym, just start off with a daily walk and following the 12 week plan and you will soon see the weight come off.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Welcome Linda! :)

I would also suggest you ditch the word "diet". As in "going on a diet". I've learned here that going on a diet never helped anybody as you eventually end up coming off of the diet..... and putting on the weight lost plus!

I look at what we're doing here as more retraining ourselves into healthy habits that will help lose weight, but ultimately result in a healthier lifestyle. But then, that's what prompted me to start the 12-week plan, I was woefully unhealthy and didn't want to carry on that way. And with the support here I'm getting to where I want to go and enjoying it at the same time!

Good luck! :D
