Help in losing weight
Hi Nadia. The first step is making the decision to start to address your weight. There's no quick fix and diets don't work long term. It's best to change eating habits slowly, swopping high calorie sugary and fatty foods with healthier options, drinking more water and upping your exercise. I've done every diet going and non of them I found were sustainable long term. Have you downloaded the 12 week plan? That will get you going. Then plan your meals and calculate your calories. I use the app my fitness pal it's great. Good luck you're on your way and there's lots of support on this site for you.
It depends on how much you want to lose and over what length of time, but the most sensible way is to lose 1-2 lbs a week following a healthy eating plan.
There are no ways to safely lose weight fast. A sensible balanced diet, consuming less calories than you burn is the only sensible way to lose weight.
Have you looked at the 12 week plan ?
Anyone trying to sell you a quick fix diet is doubtless profiteering, don't buy in to it. There are some detox diets which, if you are new to dieting may help you have a good, first week, loss but on average a healthy loss is between 1 and 2lbs a week.
The big question is what is fast...I think it's a pound a week.....easy and sustainable with celebrations.
Quick and fast. Same words. You obviously are in a hurry. It is very unhealthy to go this path. The only "quick and fast" way is to starve yourself or go on a ridiculous diet. A diet which will see you regaining the weight you lost and more, in a "quick and fast" way.
How about : no alcohol at all, no soft drinks or fruit juices or smoothies at all and NO added sugar. Not just in tea but in all your other food, like "low fat food" and "health bars" . This will be a good start.
With this in mind, download the 12 week plan, read it, follow it. If you are really committed to loose weight, this will help you.
Quick tips are:
* cut down your portions
*exercise more
*give up sweets, chocolate, cakes and biscuits if like me you sometimes MUST have
chocolate buy minimum 70% dark choclate and yes I would rather have Cadbury's
Dairy Milk but that is forbidden so a little dark chocolare deals with my craving.
*keep an eye on how much carbohydrate you eat, try to cut down your portions and bear the next rule in mind
*swap any rice for brown, pasta and bread for wholemeal, keep skins on carrots and potatoes.
*drink water as much as you can
*if you have an important date to dress for treat yourself to something new from EBay or a charity shop as hopefully soon it will be too big for you
*don't be hard on yourself - Rome wasn't built in a day
Sorry Nadia, there is no way of loosing weight quick and fast, because you will put back all the Wight that you have loose in triple quick time.
So the best way is to mange what you eat, healthy eating, try and steam most of your food, and cooked your meat with little bit of oil, only.
Then I cannot stress how much exercise is a good way of loosing and managing your weight, if you can try to exercise for 1 hour each day.
With cardio and weight exercise, to tone up your body, what you need is to loose the fat not just the water. So be sensible and do it the right way.
In no time you will have a fit and nice tone body. To show off.
Hope this will help
I'm sure I read an article somewhere about someone who had done the quick fix weight loss and that there was some kind of link to having gall bladder problems...I'll try to gee up my memory and see if I can find anything about it again.
I can't really add much, everyone has said it perfectly, slowly really is the safe, sustainable way to do it. It's a lifestyle change rather than a quick fix diet.
Hi WW , i did that very low carb diet high protein lost loads of weight very quickly through ketosis felt fab and became very slim at the time then began losing my hair! Then went back to normal food eating put even more weight than ever back on and ended up with severe gall bladder problems really ill, had it removed and never been the same since my health is awful now ,definitely slow and steady is the healthy way not extreme quick loss.
Oh my days that sounds like a complete nightmare, poor you! I used to think that people saying slow and steady was just their way of showing support and words of encouragement, but the more I read, the more I seem to hear that it genuinely can be very unhealthy to lose weight too quickly. Thanks for commenting, I felt sure I had read somewhere about potential gall bladder problems surrounding weight issues but couldn't remember where it was! I hope it's possible for you to feel better in the long run and that you can get at least some of your good health back xx
Hi WW,
Thank you for your reply and good wishes , I tend to tell people because I don`t want others to do anything that can cause themselves problems or ill health and I think it can be very tempting to get pulled in to the latest quick fix.
I am lucky I ended up with a great consultant but do sadly have life on medications now every time I eat as It has left me with severe bile issues but I am slowly adapting and taking more care and taking things calm and steady, but definitely regret doing a severe fast loss diet.
Slow and steady wins the race!
