Hello just joined, and looking forward to making some life changes a day at a time. Any advice or support welcome. Eager to lose around 4 stone which will take time and effort. I look forward to getting motivated by swimming and walking each day.

Hi, this is my first day too, and have about the same weight loss target as yourself. Will do lots of walking and have downloaded the C25K app, but will have to work up to be able to start that, hopefully in a couple of weeks

Good Luck with your journey - 12 weeks doesn't seem a long time

That's good we can help each other. I have just walked for an hour on the treadmill. I must focus a day at a time and hope to see progress. Mostly just want to feel comfortable in my clothes. Today I feel positive. I am now going to take up some leaves in the garden since it's a dry day. Good luck!!

That would be good - been out with the dog (who is also reducing his gravy bone allowance!) so a brisk half hour walk this morning. Like you, just want to be comfy and a bit fitter than just now. Great day for gardening, nice and bright

Good morning, I have just recently joined to and am looking to lose 6 stone, but will be doing swimming and walking too. I think I'll start swimming at 20lengths then gradually increase and walking 1 hour on my days off... Good luck on your journey, and days where you want to give up just think at what you have already achieved

I think it helps having someone sharing their journey too. I love swimming too I may go for a swim in afternoon just to keep me away from TV. I have a holiday coming up in December and would love to drop a dress size. Good luck!!!

getting the food sorted is more important as often you need more calories when exercising, also when on a diet the temptation to 'treat' yourself since youve done exercise is bad

try making smaller goals for occasions i.e xmas goal?? as part of your overall goal

download myfitness pal and log everything - even if your bad! it really helps get you into the mindset

Hi that's so true!!! I really have to write a healthy shopping list and reward myself with a nice hot bath and candles instead of cake and a coffee. I am prepared with bottled water instead of carbonated drinks. I look forward to sharing my result next week. Even a pound would be great!!! Good luck to you too.

some people have fizzy water with a slice of lime or lemon if you prefer that to flat water?

also brushing your teeth helps stop the urge to eat snacks!

I always find the first week the easiest to lose weight then it just gets harder and harder.. I'm lucky because I don't drink carbonated drinks but my shame is fruit juice with all the sugars!
