Starting again... Again

Littlemissdiet profile image

I am bored, annoyed, fed up and feeling disgusted with myself!

I lost 4.5 stone on weight watchers a couple of years ago and have put at least 3 stone back on. I knew it was happening but couldn't stop myself. Why? I have no idea.

So today, I am heading to the gym and started tracking my food again on My Fitness Pal.

I need to get this sorted!!

You can do it! I know how it feels to put back the weight you worked so hard to remove in the past. But try and think of the positives, you are still 1.5stone less than you started at last time, you have done it before and so you know you can again.

I suggest you concentrate on a healthy eating and portion control plan as well as getting back to exercise. I have found this has worked for me and helped me to gain a better relationship with food.

Best wishes for getting you eating back on plan.

Thanks! I just had a read of your post. Good luck on your own journey :) x

you're starting again which can be half the battle. it is really hard to re-motivate yourself after the initial weight-loss ( which by the way is fantastic, so well done!)

I, myself am trying to re-motivate myself to get back on to the diet and gym going. but I just can't seem to G myself up.

you can do it!

thank you, the motivation is the hardest so I know how you are feeling!! I am off work today so took my dog for a long walk. The gym seems so daunting right now!!

Good luck you can do it.

Come on littlemissdiet . You CAN do this.

It's a lifestyle change though, not just a temporary diet.

I've got to lose my weight by the Autumn and then maintain it as my daughter gets married in August 2016 and I want to look good for both myself AND her. That's why it's got to be a lifestyle change.

You CAN do this. You'll find this site really supportive.

Good luck.

I feel your frustration. I'm so ashamed of the weight I've put back on that I won't even go clothes shopping and just slop around in leggings and baggy hoodies which make me look even bigger.

But if we did it once we can do it again, can't we?

Personally I'm finding it useful to examine what motivated me to lose weight the first time and what caused me to start piling it on again so I can replicate the good behaviours and minimise the not so good.

That's a good idea. I have a photo of a before and after from when I lost weight before so I might stick it back up!!

I hate the feeling that you have lost yourself. I know exactly how you feel :(

So tonight I went to the gym and walked out 10 minutes later in tears. I just wasn't prepared for it. I was self concious and generally not happy there. I have made an appointment for a 1 on 1 to get a programme set up to see if that helps!

This is a great share, Thank you. This experience has made you care for yourself more and you booked help. Success requires others. It is no burden on others to give you support. Do you drive? I was shocked at how frustrated I was when I realised I had to go with it and keep practicing until I knew I could do it. I thought I was different and could do it without the learning process. I'm the same with my self care. If it is any ways boring or hard I have to work hard to keep on track!

Why the tears, Littlemiss? did you feel too self conscious?

If it's any consolation, when I go to the gym I don't notice the people who are overweight and trying to get fit in any way other than 'gosh, they're doing well, I'd better pick up my pace'. The people I have a little snigger at are the skinnie minnies who prance around doing no work whatsoever in full make up or checking their slicked back hair in the mirror and treat it as a social / pick-up event.

We are eternal restarters! It took me a year to lose 12 pounds. We are the people who really need WW to stop celebrating huge losses and to put as much emphasis on staying the same.

Good luck at the gym.

Keep on going keeping going 😀
