Starting again!!!!

It feels like I am forever starting again, I was doing OK. Then I had to fly over to the UK for a course, and my healthy eating went out of the window. Though I didn't put any on, I didn't lose. Since I have been back 2 weeks and can't stop eating everything in sight, and have now put on 3lbs may not be much to some, but it takes me ages to lose any. So today I start again, I have 2 months before I have to fly back to the UK again and hope to lose about a stone. I have about 3 stone to lose altogether, so it is in for the long haul.

Hi LynFS,

It's good to hear you were doing OK before you had to go to the UK for your course. At least you didn't gain any weight during that time, that's an achievement! :-)

I know you've put 3 pounds on since you came back, but hopefully if you get back on track now, that will soon be off again. You've still got a whole 2 months before you have to go back to the UK, so that's plenty of time to make some good changes and achieve the half stone you'd like to lose.

If you'd like to join us for the Monday group weigh-ins, for some extra group support, then you'd be very welcome. It's a supportive and friendly group. Most of us are using the NHS 12 week plan as a framework, which you may already have seen, as it's highlighted in the top middle of the screen (entitled 'Weight Loss NHS').

The link to today's Monday weigh-in group is here, if you want to take a look to see if it interests you or not:

Whatever you decide to do, I'd like to wish you every success with your weight loss goals, and I'm sure you'll be back on track and enjoying healthy eating in no time.

All the best for a great week ahead.

Lowcal :-)

Hi LynFS,

I really hear what you are saying. Although managing to stay the same is a real triumph, I think that might be the issue. We only seem to have a limited amount of will power and once it is used up, there isn't any left. So most of my eating healthy strategies involve me avoiding temptation rather than facing it (and failing). I too managed to maintain or lose a happy half when away from home but found that I fell off the wagon big time when I got home. The only way to avoid it was to plan and buy all my meals for when I got home. So the freezer and the tin cupboard were crucial for this planning. I definitely planned what I was going to eat for the first couple of days, but it might be necessary to do it for the full week before letting yourself loose in the supermarket again! Big Leg's strategy is another one I use when I'm away. I go for low fat protein and lots of veg and fruit. And since, no one I will meet has cooked it, if something I shouldn't eat gets onto my plate, I leave it! I do opt to have a treat eat and a treat drink every day, so that I don't feel deprived. And I walk around as much as possible. The staff at one hotel, thought it was really funny that I was walking round the block and passing their smoking group repeatedly late one night. I explained I had to get to a certain point on my pedometer before I could stop. They found that hilarious.

Hi Bigleg

I live in the Vienne in France. I have looked at the Low Carb High Fat diet, but can't seem to get my head round it. It just seems to turn everything you have ever learnt in the past on its head. But I think I might have another look at it.
