Okay so hey!

I am way overweight and I know I need to get fitter before I start to suffer any major health issues.

I have lost weight before (just over a stone) and although this was good I mananged to throw it away.

I ultimatly want to lose 8-9 stones to be in my optimum weight range.

I wonder if it is better to go 2 stone at a time?

I hope to stick with it this time, very glad I found this forum. :)

Hi and welcome. You have come to the right place for support and info. I think that you are right to set yourself mini-goals. I suggest half stone goals - if you lose about 1-2 lbs a week then you will achieve each mini goal within a month giving you a real sense of progress. If you have a lot to lose (check what your weight should be) you will probably lose weight faster at the start which is a great motivator.

Make changes that you can live with - you are changing your habits for life. I have cut out snacks unless I am hungry, have ditched junk food, have lowered my carbs dramatically (only carbs now are in my porridge and veg and fruit) and have started drinking a lot more water and herbal tea. I am at the end of week 9 and have lost 2 stone and feel like a different person - positive, energetic and healthy. I have a lot more to lose but I will get there and am enjoying the journey :-)

Good luck with your own journey and don't say that you hope to stick to the weight loss plan this time - you are in control. If you want to do this then you will make it happen...

Thanks Nicky! I almost always have a cup of tea and porridge and blueberries for brekkie - if not then I will have a couple of eggs. I dont tend to need a morning snack but do have a herbal tea and usually have some kind of salad for lunch - tuna, cheese, quorn cold meat etc with tomatoes, capers and loads of lettuce to fill me up and a big glass of water. I sometimes have a piece of fruit as well. Mid-afternoon I have an apple and maybe some nuts and another cuppa. Dinner is quorn chicken/ quorn mince/ salmon or some other kind of fish/ eggs / lentils or quinoa - I am a fish eating veggie so I don't eat meat. I make stir fries, curries, salads, omelettes, etc and eat loads of veg - spinach, broccoli, cauli, cabbage, asparagus, courgettes, peppers, tomatoes, etc. Another big glass of water and possibly some plain greek yoghurt and some berries. I eat about 6.00 and dont snack in the evening - I am not hungry and don't feel the urge to nibble. I have a herbal tea and if I really want something sweet I will have some berries. I don't know if this all sounds very frugal but I can honestly say that I don't feel as though I am denying myself anything; I'm not hungry, have loads of energy and am losing weight. I still have another 4 stone to go so I will be doing the 12 week programme a few times over :-) Good luck with your own weight loss....

Hi and welcome. I have just reached two stone lost and would ideally like to lose another eight. Set yourself mini targets like half a stone, make small changes that you can manage drink water. I have an app on my phone. I weigh and record everything that way I know how many calories I have eaten. You can do it.

I have lost nearly 4 St -22lbs since joining this forum.I find the best thing to do is note down everything you eat and try to make sure you are accurate in your calorie count. My hubby is now behind me and even he enjoys the meals we have-we cook from scratch and have a lot of fish and chicken.I bought a few weight watchers cook books and the recipes in them are fab.just as someone before said take it in small chunks -7lbs at a time-I still have about another 7 St to lose but I'm determined this time.

Take care and good luck.

Thanks for the replies :) Its nice to have support. I will do it this time. I have cut out junk and I measure everything. Record on My Fitness Pal everyday. I'm only 3 days in though.

I make the best I know how to of a bad situation (I live with my grandparents, no control over food bought).

Drinking lots more water. No fizzy drinks. No more sugar in my tea. I don't really find it that difficult. I mainly need to up my exercise. :)
