Starting again, again

Determined to do it this time.. Downloaded 3 weeks of nhs plan and fitness pal. Was going to slimming world and got within 3 lbs of target and then put it all back on. Clothes don't fit and feel really annoyed with myself. But hopefully with all the inspiration on here and support I will do it this time.

Welcome, I hope you find what you need in this community. You'll find many motivational posts here! Start by dowloading an app on your phone to keep track of calories (Fat Secret, My Fitness Pal...), it's a great aid! Good luck!

Thank you have downloaded both apps.

Please don't be disheartened - I am in a similar situation where I am annoyed at myself for undoing previous good work, but you are in the right place now and hopefully reading through posts on the forum will help you find motivation. I try to take each day as a compartment, and try to do my best within each day, knowing that it will be improving my future. Hopefully when you start seeing the numbers go down it will motivate you to keep going. My thoughts were if I don't do something about this now it's only going to get worse - and that cannot be an option. Can't wait to fit back in to old clothes (and new ones!). Keep us posted, and best of luck! :-)

Thank you. I think it will be better to take one day at a time.Think because I did it before I want instant weight loss will have to be patient. Downloaded fat secret app and put weight in pounds!!! It's really quite scary. Good luck to you.

Hi there and welcome to the forum. You're right to be patient and not go for a quick fix, I've tried every diet in the past including Slimming World and even Lighterlife but as soon as you lose the weight it goes back on (and some!). I realised I had to re-think my relationship with food and change my attitude to eating so I started the NHS 12 week plan, today is the beginning of week 4 for me and I'm enjoying it, counting calories seems to work for me. I know you'll find all the encouragement and support you need here, good luck and I look forward to hearing about your success next week.

Good luck with the plan. You might find portion control difficult after slimming world it does teach you to eat some very large amounts which is why it's so easy to regain once you eat foods that are off plan.

I think calorie counting teaches much better habits for life. Nothing is forbidden but just like balancing your bank account you have to go without somewhere else. I hope it works for you

I am looking forward to calorie counting. although made a mistake yesterday and made a 3 egg mushroom omelette didn't check calories till after and it was 400 cals. Must get out of this unlimited mode.

400 is ok for a main meal but I know what you mean. I have a friend who had to go from slimming world that she'd doing for about 10 years to a low fat low calorie diet for medical reasons. Her consultant was scathing about Slimming World, I know it can work for some, but it is so hard to eat a normal diet after. You can buy egg white in the supermarket and this isever so low in calories which can help to bump up a 1 or 2 egg omelette into something a bit bigger.

Not what you're looking for?
