Have had a bad week feeling grotty from a bad cough/cold/temperature - you know the kind of thing. Managed legs bums and tums on Monday night but since then have just come home from work, and slept. The teenagers have been in charge! Husband away. Beginning to feel better today.
I have found since I joined the gym though that I haven't lost any weight. Have read that starting exercise can stress the body, raising cortisol levels, which impedes fat loss. However, I feel so much better for going (apart from this week), that I'm going to continue, try and make better food choices, and hope it settles down.
It's my understanding, Sarah, that in the long term, exercise will build muscle, that will burn more calories, but the immediate effect can be a halt to weight loss, or even a gain.
However, I also believer the correct diet is more important for weight loss, relying on exercise for fitness, toning and the feelgood factor.
There's also the issue of finding the balance between exercise and hunger. It defeats the object if you end up eating more and fail to lose, but I still feel that exercise, if you're able, is a good thing to keep up.
I suspect that my response will confuse you more than you were to start with! Sorry about that!
No, I think I get it!! I have noticed that I've eaten more as I've been hungry after all the cardio. But I do feel more toned, and generally have more of a spring in my step. I will keep going as I'm enjoying it, and I think it will improve my anxiety too. Need to refocus on the food now, back to making food plans, which I've lost my way with, especially this week when I haven't even been sure what day it is lol! Thanks moreless
