I'm 66 years old and have been overweight for most of my life. I have tried most diets and to my shame my daughter says she cannot remember a time when I wasn't on one!!! After financing weight watchers and slimming world forever - or seem like it. I looked to the dear NHS and decided I had nothing to lose but weight.
IT IS THE BEST DIET I HAVE EVER TRIED. I am on week8 and have lost 10lbs. I feel great, eat well, more active despite having COPD and IBS.
Just take one day at a time, you may only lose a pound a week but it is OFF and already you weigh lighter. Stop stressing that will only make you want to eat, lessen your portions and have a treat now and again, you deserve it BUT don't overdo it.
I have 3 stone more to lose but I'm taking it one day at a time!

Good for you!! Love reading positive posts like this. Thank you for sharing and well done. The nhs plan seems to have so many people should be more widely known about even my doctor didnt know about it, i sat there and explained it to her thought it was a great idea and was going to recommend it to her patients
Hi, I'm sixty six too! I think it is much more difficult the older you get to lose weight. I have tried every diet going and I have lost weight, but put it back on again. I'm back at Slimming World as I need someone to keep me in check. I have under-active thyroid and IBS, so I can relate to you. I have lost 13lb since January and have 2 st to go.
It's fabulous that you are losing weight with NHS, hope to see you here again.
Well done, can you tell me where to find the NHS diet please. We are quite similar except that I am 70 and in all honesty have been overweight since the mid nineties, about 20 years, my one good period was when I lost 2 stone training for and running the London Marathon, but that was in 1993. Now have some breathing and minor heart problems so not running, walking as much as I can. This week have amazingly lost about 3 lbs by concentrating on protein, fruit and veg, more or less no carbs, but any loss is a great motivator, however feel I have to take it sensibly, always danger of piling it back on if the loss is too great. Good luck and keep trucking on!
I believe that if you go on a no carb diet, you will lose weight but will put it back on and more as soon as you stop. It happened to me. I rather learn how to eat healthy.
Thats great, wish I could stay that positive. Like you I've been there done it with all the slimming clubs and then going back for more rejoins without lasting success. Good luck!
