16 and clueless
Unfortunately theres no quick fix, healthy eating and exercise is key to losing weight, although i found that by incorporating a little bit of my fave things ie chocolate into my calorie allowance i dont tend to "fall off the wagon" so to speak, i still treat myself to takeaway now and then, its all about learning moderation and making healthier choices. If you slip up and "binge" for example dont beat yourself up and spiral into old habits, get back on track and keep going, its hard work but very rewarding. Take it one day at a time you can do this
Hi,you don't say how much you want to lose but I would say just eating healthier and don't class a slip up as cheating cos anything in moderation is fine, perhaps thinking about starting up a healthy hobby, something you would enjoy doing and would perhaps be a bit active.I have been yoyo dieting all my life and am at my heaviest now and I think it was due to the fact of thinking of food as good or bad.You can do it
Hi, You could try writing down all your cheats each day, 'truthfully'. You could see if there is a pattern or a trigger and work out a way of avoiding those by having an alternative. For example, when i re-enter the house after being out, I would always put on a piece of toast perhaps two whether I needed or not. Now I have a bowl of fruit conveniently placed so I pick that up instead. Most of the time it works.
Keep a food diary for a week to assess what you are eating. Then try to cut out one bad element at a time.I have personally found that breaking associations with certain types of food very difficult in the past so i have used nutritional shakes (not slimfast) to break the addiction cycle for two of my meals and made my main meal healthy the majority of the time. This enabled me to go from 13st 8lb to 12st 2lb in 12 weeks through the Christmas and new year period. This might not be right for everyone, but it worked for me.Wishing you good luck on your weight lose journey Elle.
You need to tell us how tall you are, what you weigh now otherwise we could be giving you totally inappropriate information for your age. Sometimes people think they need to lose weight when they may well be or close to the right weight for their height and may just need to tone up.
Keeping a food diary is a good idea and you need to make sure that the food that you are eating is good food and not junk. I'd suggest having a look at the NHS Choices 12 week programme, there is a tool there that will help you see what you should weigh in relation to your height and age.
I agree with all the others. At your age, eating more healthily, stopping snacking junk foods, and becoming a bit more active should make a considerable difference.
Hi Elliegray
I think you have some good advice from the posts here. Make up your mind to really do it, believe in yourself, and any time you sabotage yourself treat it as an opportunity to learn rather than a failure.
You'll get there!
