Last Monday I weighed 13 stone 5.4 pounds, and today I weigh 13 stone 2.2 pounds, so I've lost 3.2 pounds this week. It's great to get some of the holiday excess off, and I am happy to be back on track and in a better routine again.
I've been for a walk every day, and I've also done a 25 minute weight training session on 3 days, which I enjoyed. I've had healthy meals and often pre-planned them so that I don't get lead astray by last minute decisions.
My goal this week is to lose 1 pound, and keep my exercise and healthy eating going.
Please join me for this Monday weigh-in and share your experiences. If you're new, then join in if you want to - everyone is welcome and it's a positive and encouraging group weigh-in.
Hoping you'll join us. Looking forward to catching up with you all.

Hi, well done that's great news.. I too have lost weight last week ..Just jumped off the scales pleased another 2lbs has come off.. Into my third week now and feeling positIve too .. Good luck this week , keep us posted..
Congratulations on losing 6 pounds in your first week - that's incredible!!! Really well done.
Just to let you know that there's a more recent 'weigh-in' post that is dated 26th January 2015. The weigh-in posts change date every Monday, and so if you'd like to find that post and add your great weight loss in the latest one - you'll also be able to read the latest updates from the other Monday weigh-in people who join my thread.
Much better than me. I have managed to stay the same - which is a bit of a relief -definitely off my game this week. Just not in the mood- back at work and had post xmas blues with no motivation at all.
Anyhoo - have managed to get myself to gym a few times as part of my Jantastic challenge - have to do it as I am part of the NHS C5kers team. Feeling more positive this week - and brain wanting to engage- as opposed to eating and being slothful.
Well done for staying the same despite feeling those post Xmas blues - I think that's an achievement in itself! Glad to hear your motivation levels are coming back, and you're feeling more positive about the week ahead.
Great that you got to the gym a few times - your Jantastic Challenge sounds good. Definitely motivating!
Wishing you a good week ahead, and thanks for your encouragement.
Well done lowcal, losing the holiday weight must feel great! I've stayed the same this week, which given what I have eaten is frankly amazing. I appear to have lost my dieting mojo at the moment as I have been over my calorie allowance every day this week. I'm not sure if it is just the fact that there is still christmas food in the house, or if it is because I have been dieting for eight months now and am rebelling. I need to get back onto it this week, so have planned all my meals and have started to log my evening meal in the morning so that I know how many calories I have for the rest of the day. I also restart yoga this week so this will hopefully help with toning up. I hope everyone has a good week and good luck with the continued weight loss.
Well done for staying the same, despite eating more this week. You've got a plan to get back your healthy eating mojo, and I'm sure that pre-planning your meals will definitely be helpful. Re-starting your yoga will be good too - toning up is great.
Hopefully you won't have quite so much Christmas food left by now, and there will be less temptations around.
Well done, you are really flying now! Unfortunately, despite tracking all my food on MyFitnessPal and not going over 1,200 cal. a day; no booze (doing dry January) and no naughty things I've only dropped quarter of a pound this week - or maybe my scales are wrong ?
Hi Lowcal - thanks for the reminder! I am now 17st0&1/4lbs!!!! Eeeek. This may be in part because my period is due but I'm NOT happy! On my way to taekwondo now to work some of it off Hope you all have a good week.
Great to see you, and well done for keeping to your goals. I hope it was ok and that you enjoyed it? Congratulations on losing quarter of a pound - it is important to celebrate it. It's a loss, and you are progressing, so really well done! As Kate says, "Any loss is better than a gain".
If you're not sure about your scales, then you could always try using scales in a shop as a comparison, just to see if they vary.
I hope you have a great day one, and that you enjoy the first week. Really glad you've joined us, and will look forward to catching up with you next week.
The NHS 12 week plan is a good structure, not sure if you're using that or not, but it is a great resource.
Tried hard this week and weighed in at 14s 9.5 so that is 2lb off. Really happy and hoping that I can emulate Lowcal next week and continue on the downward track. Bring it on week 2. I have also been exercising to the music of Pink on a small exercise trampoline which is great fun.
Great to see you, and Congratulations on losing 2 pounds this week. That's really great. You sound enthusiastic and motivated, and that's a great way to go forward into your second week.
Your exercise sounds great fun - hope you have another great week ahead. Look forward to catching up with you again next week.
Well done! You seem to have started the new year on a roll!! Keep up the good work.
I have managed to lose the 2 lbs I put on over the Christmas period and start today at 12st 5lbs. My next target is to get into the 11's, at 1 lb per week. I have also lost my diet mojo like suzybenj - post Xmas blues. Also - and this I am dreading- we are having our kitchen replaced starting next week, won't have a kitchen for 3 weeks - so it will be ready meals and takeaways - anything we can cook in a microwave. Not sure what effect that will have on my healthy living efforts!
Congratulations to you on losing 2 pounds this week. That's a great start to the New Year. Let's hope we continue on this downward roll...! Setting yourself the goal of losing 1 pound a week sounds really good - I have also set myself that target.
It sounds like you've got some upheaval to go through for the next few weeks, with your kitchen being replaced and not having use of your kitchen for 3 weeks. However, I think there are quite a few things that you could cook in your microwave - so hopefully with some pre-planning you will still be able to eat healthily. Maybe googling some recipe ideas for microwaves might bring up some good ideas?
Wishing you another great week and thanks for your encouragement. Good luck with the kitchen renovation - just imagine how you'll feel once it's finished and you get all your kitchen space back again.
I've lost another pound this week making my total loss 60lbs, when I started this last year I didn't think I'd make it this far. This week I weighed in at exactly 14st so the plan for next week is to lose at least another pound so I am in the 13s. I'm looking for alternative exercise as I have discovered that running on ice in strong winds is not an enjoyable experience so it could be back to Jillian for more indoor exercise this week.
Hope your loss continues and you shift the rest of that Christmas gain,
Congratulations to you on losing another pound, and especially for achieving your total loss of 60 pounds, that is really inspiring! Incredible that you're so close now to being in the 13's - that's really exciting!
I'm sure you'll get there for next week, and doing Jillian's work-outs at home will be really good. I wish I could find the DVD of hers that I have somewhere at home. I must have another look. I have been doing a Bob Harper work-out that is designed to strengthen the core area, and it is really good! It takes 25 minutes and that's quite a good amount of time for me.
Congratulations on the 60lbs milstone! And I agree, running of ice is not good - I tried it just before New Year and had a very sobering realisation that one little slip could stop me exercising and set me back for weeks. Jillian is a great reminder of summer, as she pops around her studio wearing a crop top - enjoy!
Thanks It was a rather slow run, the path was slippy and the grass to the side was boggy, I ended up with very cold wet feet but fortunately no injury. I had the same realisation that you did so slowed down and (fortunately) made it home safely. I'm also hoping to get into a crop top, it's one of my goals, probably for summer 2016
Morning all - just completed my first week and have lost 6.5lbs which is a great start for me on a long journey!! Started at 17st 11, now 17st 4.5 and BMI dropped a point too to 40.4 Right - week2 - bring it on!! Good luck everyone xx
It's great to see you, and really great to hear you've lost 6.5 pounds in your first week - amazing!!! Congratulations! Great that your BMI dropped a point too. Hope you found your first week enjoyable and it sounds like you're feeling motivated and positive for week 2.
Thanks Lowcal - appreciate the support. And yes, I'm excited but realistic as well, a couple of pounds each week would be fab now but any loss is a good loss x
Very well done JackyM Its a lovely feeling and a real mood uplifter. Keep it up. Good luck.
Hi not a good fresh start. I have put on 1.5lb this week. I weigh 12 stone 13.6lb so have nearly a stone to lose by my birthday in July. At least that is an achievable target.
I had hoped to get my head space back this week for continuing my healthy eating and weight loss but it was not to be.
My daughter has been staying with her two girlies as she still cannot lift after her C Section. Both the girls were unwell and the baby has a possible lactose intolerance so was crying and screaming lots. I was on the go everyday from 7am until 9pm and totally exhausted. So not surprised the diet went out the window.
This week I should be back into my normal routine so I am planning my food properly and will work at sticking to 1400kcal. If I can do this for this week I will then try and get my head around exercise next week. I feel so tired I cant even contemplate exercise this week.
Well done to all of you who have lost weight or stayed the same this week. Have a good week.
It sounds like you've had quite a hectic week - and you've had lots to deal with in terms of helping out your daughters and your grandchildren. Being on the go from 7am to 9pm every day must have been really exhausting, and I really hope you get some much needed rest this week, once you're back into your normal routine.
Hopefully once you're feeling more rested you'll be able to contemplate exercise again - sometimes a walk can actually refresh a tired body and mind, so might be a good start? Certainly planning your food will be helpful, and hope you have some delicious meals that are tasty and nutritious.
Wishing you a good week ahead. You'll soon get that 1.5 pound off again.
I read your post this morning and discovered we have the same goals! Obviously to lose weight, but we weigh around the same and my birthday is also in July! I'm 12st 10lbs and I was hoping to lose about a stone in time for my birthday too!
I will find myself looking for your post next week to see how we are doing! Good luck with your calorie goals this week!
Hi, I'm down 1lb from last week, which takes me to 9st11. Let's see if it stays off! I've run 20 miles in the last week and have been pre-planning my food. I've not been weightlifting as I'm on a "rest" week that's built into my schedule. My goal this week is to carry on with the running/pre-planning, plus try out gig rowing: there's a friendly club who row in the harbour here.
Well done with the 3.2lb off, and for really getting into the weight work: it's an amazing feeling getting stronger. And good work everyone. Have a great week!
Congratulations on losing a pound this week, that's really great. Also, brilliant that you ran 20 miles in the last week as well as pre-planning your food. Gig rowing sounds interesting! Hope you enjoy your session doing that - good that the club is friendly as that sounds good fun.
Thanks for your encouraging words. I am enjoying the weight work already - I think I feel a bit stronger already! Maybe it's psychological, but I really do feel better in myself, so that's good.
This is my first week and I have lost 3lbs, very pleased. I have swapped sweet things for fruit and healthy dinners. I have done a mile every day on the treadmill and walked the dog. I started at 14 .1 and want to get down to 12.5 for my holidays at the end of April, so need to average 1.5 per week. Hopeing for 1 lb this week.
Welcome to you, and thanks for joining us for this Monday weigh-in. Brilliant news to hear you've lost 3 pounds in your first week - Congratulations! I hope you enjoyed eating the healthy dinners and fruit, and also the treadmill and walking your dog. You've already made a transition from the 14's into the 13's - so you're already well on your way to your ultimate goal.
Glad to see a lot of losers this week! it gives me great encouragement to do better this week! Like a few people this week, I have lost a bit of my mojo having not been on here in a while. And with some Christmas foods and sweets left lying around I'm finding it a little difficult to get going again!
Weighing in this morning I am 12st 10lbs. So no movement this week. But then no loss is better than a gain. Need to do a few extra exercise sessions this week as only managed one half hour session last week...
Great to see you! Yes, no loss is definitely better than a gain, so well done for maintaining your weight despite having lost your mojo a bit, and hope you get it back again very soon - I agree that having some Christmas foods and sweets left lying around is not very motivating. Perhaps put them out of sight, so they can't distract you - although I know it's very difficult to do that when you know something is in the vicinity! I knew there was a packet of crisps in the kitchen yesterday and somehow felt they were 'calling to me' to be eaten. I did eat them by the way, but thankfully there was only the one packet.
I'm not intending to buy any more crisps now, as they are too tempting for me.
I think it's good that you did some exercise last week despite feeling lack of mojo - and hopefully you'll be able to do some more this week. Sometimes I really don't feel like going for a walk, but when I have been, I find I feel much better for it.
Great to see you back Sophie, and look forward to catching up with you next week.
Hey guys. Last Thursday (the day I bought bathroom scales) I was 12 stone 11.2 and this morning I am 12 stone 9.6 so lost 1.6 pounds I am putting this down the excess Christmas weight falling off though as I didn't try too hard! 5:2 again this week and hopefully I can motivate myself to exercise more too!
Hi Lowcal, well done on getting rid of the holiday weight. I've managed to lose just over a pound this week which I'm very happy with as it was my birthday yesterday so I allowed myself a completely free day plus a meal out with friends during the week. I have managed to stay with my new year goals and got to the swimming pool 3 times this week. Hope I can keep the same motivation in the coming weeks. I've even started finding fun active things to do with friends to try and get out of the meeting for lunch plans so fingers crossed that it's something we all enjoy and can keep doing. Hope everyone else had a good week
Congratulations to you on losing just over a pound this week, and Happy Birthday for yesterday!!! Great to hear you enjoyed a free day plus meal out with your friends. You've done well to lose on a week of celebrations.
Great that you've stuck to your New Year goals, and hope you enjoyed those swims. I think it's really good that you're considering different ways to spend time with your friends doing fun active things as alternatives to lunch plan meetings - sounds really good!
Welcome to you, and glad you joined us for this Monday weigh-in. You did well to lose weight 18 months ago, and also great that you quit smoking. You've lost weight before, and you can do it again - are you using the 12 week NHS plan? It's got a good structure and lots of great advice.
Wishing you a great week. Hope day one is going ok so far.
Well done once again Lowcal. I put on 2lbs in 2 weeks, it included time away for new year and I didn't focus when I got back. Let's see what this week brings.
Really pleased to see you. I hope you enjoyed your time away for New Year. It can be hard to focus when you've been away, and hopefully this week will bring you renewed focus once you're able to get back into a more usual routine. Those 2 pounds gained will come off again quickly once you're back on track.
Congratulations on the 3.2lb loss - that's fantastic and you've obviously nailed it with your exercise this week. I lost 1lb this week which I should be pleased about but frankly am a bit fed up (stroppy sulk coming on - can you tell??) Last week I weighed 12 stone 1.5 pounds and this week 12 stone 0.5 pounds grrr! I so wanted to get back into the 11's this week. I started the 5:2 diet and found it ok - made sure I stuck to 500 calories on my two 'fast'days and didn't feel like I had over-indulged on the other days - yes I did have a few treats that are lurking around post-Christmas like a mince pie with a cup of tea etc., but really thought I would have lost more especially as am alcohol-free for January so saving all those wine calories! On the exercise front I went to the gym twice and also went for two runs. Why is it just so difficult sometimes?
I know it sometimes takes more than just one week to show on the scales so am going to stick with the 5:2 plan for another week and so what happens next week. Hopefully I will be posting an 11 stone something next week......
Hope you all have a great week and once again well done on such a great loss this week Lowcal.
Thanks for your encouraging words - much appreciated!
Congratulations on losing 1 pound this week. I know you wanted to lose more and get into the 11's, but hopefully you'll be celebrating that transition next week, and that's something to look forward to and work towards - you'll get there! You're doing so well.
Mince pies seem to vary a lot in terms of calories - I discovered that a 'luxury' version had twice as many calories as a 'normal' version, which really shocked me as they looked quite similar sizes. Thankfully I only ate 3 mince pies over the whole Christmas period - in previous years I would have had far more!
Your two sessions at the gym and your two runs sounds impressive to me. Really good!
Just keep doing what you're doing Jan, and you'll be celebrating being in the 11's by next week. Like you say, sometimes it takes a bit longer to show on the scales, and there can be fluctuations due to other stuff in anycase.
I have lost 1lb ,its because I have not been dedicated, since Christmas I have gone from 14.7 to 14.5 so now I am going to follow the 5,2diet to get me motivated,I am someone who can eat very healthy and then pick up crisps and eat too many of these ,which makes me feel really sluggish and lazy,so here we go,I think I too will purchase a pedometer to record my walking habits
I think it's really good that you've lost 1 pound this week - it sounds dedicated to me. Great also that you've lost 2 pounds since Christmas. Congratulations!
I hope you enjoy doing the 5:2 diet and that it gives you the increase in motivation level you want. I agree that crisps are definitely tempting foods - I find them very tempting which is why I usually try to limit their availability in the house.
Hope you enjoy your walks - getting a pedometer to track your walking habits sounds like something that could be motivating.
I ordered the Pedometer so this should be a motivator ,thank you for the support and I am looking forward to making this a positive experience, you are doing ever so well,I wish you continous success
Well done with your weight loss this. Sounds like you are in 'the zone' and getting amazing results. Last week I weighed in at 12st 9lbs and today I weighed in at 12st 6.5lbs. Now, I haven't been that motivated to get back after christmas into the being sensible and conscious about what I eat so I was REALLY surprised to see such a loss. When I think about what I have been eating I don't feel it justifies any loss, let alone 2.5lbs! Maybe last week the scales were being harsh or maybe I won't lose any weight this next week. All just feels a little wierd....almost not trusting my scales!!! We'll see what happens next week!
Many thanks - I do feel back in the 'zone' at the moment - I just hope that feeling stays as long as possible!
Many Congratulations to you for losing 2.5 pounds this week, that's really great! I think it can be surprising some weeks - maybe eating a bit more fired up your metabolism a bit? Or maybe you did more exercise perhaps?
Thanks for joining us - have you downloaded or seen the NHS 12 week weight loss plan? It has some helpful advice and a structured plan. With regard to your high blood pressure, it would be advisable to discuss your plans with your health care advisor, so they could give you appropriate support and advice.
We meet here every Monday for a weigh-in, and you are very welcome to join us if you would like to.
Wishing you success with your goals and a great week ahead.
Weighed myself today and I'm at the heaviest I have ever been not only that but I can see I look really big and I feel tired and bloated all the time and keep having palpations and shortness of breathe. I know this is because I have put a stone and a half on since September and even then I was about 2 and a half stone over my normal weight . Now its effecting my health, I want to do something about it. Weigh in Monday
Well done, Lowcal, for getting back on track. I'm assuming you are in the northern hemisphere, so spring is just around the corner. Keep up the good work.
Hi everyone, I am new to this but pleased I have found some support. I weigh 14 stone 7 which is the heaviest I have ever been. I am really want to lose weight.
Welcome! Really glad you've joined the weigh-in. You have added your reply to the post that was dated 12th January - there is also one for today's date (19th January) so if you read that post, you'll see the most up to date weigh-ins. I usually post between 7am and 7.15am on Monday mornings and the date is always in brackets in the title.
Have you seen the NHS 12 week structured plan? It is a great structure and has lots of good advice for weight loss.
Hope you'll join us for future weigh-ins, and look forward to catching up with you. Good luck for your first week!
Congratulations on losing 2 pounds this week, and achieving 8 pounds loss in total - that's amazing progress. Really well done.
Just to let you know that there's a more recent Monday weigh-in that you could add to - i.e. dated 2nd February. You've added this update to the post that is dated 12th January.
If you want to, you could re-post that great result to the latest post, and I've discovered the link to that is:
No worries if you don't want to repeat it, but I thought you might want to read how the others are getting on, and add your own success to the most recent post.
