I need motivation!!!
Don’t dwell on your experiences with diets in the past. Thinking negatively will almost certainly result in you giving up. So instead, put past dieting failures behind you and instead focus on the success that lies ahead. Start by reminding yourself how much better and healthier you already feel. Think positively. When you think positively, you’ll generally feel happier with the result that you’ll regain your motivation to diet and achieve your weight loss goals.
Of course sweets tempt you. They tempt most people — they are engineered to do just that! It appears, from your experience, that you can't have both the weight loss and the sweets, so it would follow that you have to choose one of them. Which do you want more? I'd suggest doing a little writing, for yourself only, on that question: Which one do you want more? If you really want the weight loss, overcoming the temptation will be doable. It is doable. Many people have done it.
One other thought, direct from my own experience. For many people, including me, not having *any* sweets is a lot easier than have *just this one.* When I eat certain things, I get a physical craving for them, and I eat them in spite of myself, which sounds like what's happening to you. Without eating the first one, I wasn't called to eat the next one, and the next one, and the next one.
To see if you're like me in this regard, why not try going without any sweets for, say, a month, to let the physical remnants leave your system, and discover whether you're being affected by a physical craving. If you found you were, it could easily be worth giving them up, even if you miss them some. I still think sweets taste good, but I've chosen not to eat them for 20 years, and I've kept off 155 pounds (sorry, am American; it that 13 stone?) for 23 years. To me, it's been worth the trade.
Good for you!!! I just love them, but your right, I've given up fruit juice aswell and any sugary drinks. I will let you know how I get one, il try 1 week first! X
It took me several goes to give up sugar. For some people it is addictive. Depending on how much you have been eating/drinking, you may find that you have to cut down gradually. If you can give it up in one go, that would be great. Remember to check the labels on any food you may buy to check that it does not contain added sugar, it gets into a lot of processed food, especially the low fat options.
If you'd had sweets rationed, you'd have had the equivalent of 100 g in a WEEK! Yes, sugar is addictive and, for some people, any addiction is difficult to beat.
Any processed food, even bread, will contain some sugar.
I agree with MichaelP. I don't eat any sweets nowadays. Nor biscuits (cookies!) nor do I add sugar to anything.
Bit of a laugh - we've just had a team of tree men to deal with our garden trees and bushes before winter. We had to search in the back of the cupboard for sugar to put in their tea! 2 of them took sugar, 2 didn't. Now we have NO sugar at all in the house!
Find low cal sweet treats. I use no added sugar jelly pots 6cals, meringue biscuits, 3.5g is 14cals, weight watchers caramel wafers are 78 cals, low fat yoghurts are quite good to I eat a toffee muller light one 99cals
I have a sweet tooth but if I made them forbidden I know I would crack. So I find a lil keeps me going, its all about moderation and finding what works for you
Good luck
