Need motivation!

Hi everyone I've been dieting for 3 weeks now. I have never felt so determined to shift weight. I have been calorie counting and keeping a diary etc sticking to 1200-1300 calories a day. Not particularly looking or feeling any different! I know it may some time to look any different, but after a good week of healthy eating aren't you supposed to feel a lot more energetic and happy?! I just feel fed up, run down and knackered all of the time, it's really starting to de-motivate me and instead of finding it easier it's getting more difficult for me!! Does anyone have any motivation tips?

Hi, are you eating doing? Are you getting enough vitamins and minerals? It can time for the body to adjust, don't give up but it is worth checking you are eating enough to fee full. I have been on paleo diet since October and have lost 3 stone since and never felt hungry but it didn't take me a couple of weeks to adjust as my body withdrew from carbs! Good luck luck

Thanks I will have a look at the diet. I do feel like I am having a balanced diet, I did used to eat a lot of carbs so that is something I did think of I have substantially cut down, some days I feel starving with a grumbling stomach, other days I'm fine it's very hit and miss! Well done on your loss

Hi - You can use the BMI calculator on the NHS website to get a personal calorie range - you need to make sure you are eating enough otherwise you will feel rundown and you might not lose weight if your body goes into starvation mode - 1200-1300 doesn't sound like much unless you are quite a small person.

You sound really determined and I'm sure you'll get there! Good luck!

I'm also in week 3, the novelty has worn off I think and there's nothing you can see different. There's no doubt this is hard but I'm working on the basis that it's not real until I've done 6 weeks. I'm making myself keep plodding until then and if I still can't see any difference I'll think again!

I'm also doing the couch to 5k and that's what's keeping me going at the moment, it's amazing! In week one I found running for 1 minute blocks hard and today I ran three minutes twice (and a bit extra because a man-in-a-van was coming towards me and I didn't want to stop while he was watching...sad, but true!).

Hang in there, it's got to be worth it. Remember all the reasons you started and how good you'll feel when you can see a difference - that's what I'm hanging on to. And know you're not alone in how you're feeling!

Hi and welcome, Sgregory :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you :)

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news :)

I'm concerned that you're eating too few calories, so have a look at this for a detailed explanation of why you need to eat enough

Motivation can be a slippery thing, for me it is a determined mind set which seems to be at least half the battle!! Give yourself an achievable mini target to work towards. Good luck 🌺

Thanks guys even reading your comments is making me feel that little bit better about this! Definitely need to speak to more people on the same journey, always difficult when you sit in an office of chippy and McDonald's lovers each day 😊

I lost my motivation last year and put back some of the wright I lost and put more on over Christmas. Are you eating enough as 1200 calories does not seem a lot d p being on your wright of course. I find that walking swimming or dancing helps. Good luck
