Its been 8 weeks and I have only lost 2kgs. My motivation is fading. I slipped up on three weekends, which is probably why I haven't lost much. For the last month I have been doing aerobics and swimming 5 days a week. Does anyone know how I can improve my weight loss.

Hi there,
Are you logging all the food and drink you eat every day? I find this a great way of getting back on track when I've lost focus (if you haven't already, you could try myfitnesspal.com for logging). Try this for a couple of weeks and see how it works out.
Regarding exercise, it sounds like you're putting in a lot of effort, which is great. Is the swimming brisk? If it's not making you short of breath then maybe you need to find something else a little more intensive?
Lastly, if you know you've got a social weekend coming up, and you're worried about slipping up, you could post a message. People will then give you encouragement (everyone's so supportive here), which should help you stay strong.
Good luck!
Hi, is the swimming and aerobics a new thing? If it is, and you have taken it up recently a possible reason you aren't laying WEIGHT is that you are building lean muscle, which is more dense than fat, and losing fat. This is great because muscle needs calories (and continual use) to maintain it. Do you feel like you are slimming at all? I almost always gain weight or maintain it at the start of a fitness burst because I build muscle. Some people's bodies just work that way.
Keep it up, you must be getting fitter!
I think that you have answered the question yourself struggling newbie. The weekends are not doing you any favours and no wonder you are getting despondent. Okay, so you could write down what you consume over a weekend and add up the calories to see where you need to cut back. Ideally you could perhaps weigh in on a Monday morning so that you have to be a little more careful at the weekends or you could start to make healthy choices through your determination to succeed and succeed you will if you're determined enough. You can also join us on a Monday morning for Lowcals weekly weigh in, where she invites you to post your progress, the highs and lows of the week and which is also great incentive!
Make yourself small achievable goals. If you weigh in today at say 14st 5lbs, then make the goal to lose those 5lbs within two or three weeks (I must admit, I would be saying I want it yesterday!!!) and then your next goal to get below the 14 st, so forth and so on, but if you don't have a plan in your mind or a target then you are most certainly just going to bimble along and get fed up. Give yourself motivation and if you really want it badly enough you will reach out and take it! Hope this hasn't come across as me being hard on you, really, this is just motivation to knuckle down and stick with it. You can do it!
Im also a newbie. Im struggling with the exercise due to arthritis but I try n stick to 1200 cals whilst walking dogs 30-60 mins daily n swimming twice or 3times a week. Iv lost 7lbs in just 2 weeks but have lost 2 inches off m waist. I have had bottle of wine last night so today I cut down n have couple bowls of low fat tomato n veg soup. I just wish it would hurry up n come off hips lol. Good luck n keep it up, it takes time and cant happen overnight.
P.s. to last log I also log everything even down to 4 strawberries as it all mounts up
