Been 3 weeks
Have you looked at the NHS Couch to 5k nhs.uk/Livewell/c25k/Pages/... running programme? I was 63 and couldn't run for a bus when I started it - nine weeks later I was running for 30 minutes! Make sure that you don't eat the exercise calories you burn though.
Re chocolate cravings, get the Options drink and have no more than one sachet a day.
Hi gingernut... yeah i downloaded the c25k podcasts...but for some reason am too hesitant to try running...but you inspired me :)...
I liked the 'dont eat ur exercise calories'...thats what i've done so far!...so I suppose I will stick to 1400 kcal food allowance
I lost my weight (3 stone in 6 months) on the 5:2 Diet youtu.be/W9Aj6hRYg4A and that was brilliant. I used MyFitnessPal to keep track of what I ate every day and at my age 1400 calories was my maximum on my non-fasting days. I've maintained my weight loss well over a year now by just 'fasting' one day a week (500 calories) and my running.
Hi hms- to start with well done for the weight loss so far- I'm almost at the end at week 11 and there have been weeks when I've put a little on, so you will have those weeks. I have lost a stone altogether through just dieting, I haven't even looked at the exercises!
As for the cravings the only way to deal with those is to have a plan in place- I started with a bunch of raisins, moved onto yoghurts, then I found a low calorie snack and now I'm into jammy dodgers- only 72 calories per biscuit!
The other way I deal with cravings is to have a hot drink- back coffee or a green tea, then listen to music or do some jobs in the house that distracts me and before I know it is tea-time!
I also started out with the phrase I eat to live not live to eat- so that has broken my need to comfort eat, although it isn't easy.
Good luck and keep going x
Perhaps try some really dark chocolate, you only need a small piece to give you a chocolate 'hit'. Not sure that jammy dodgers are going to be a good choice if you are trying to lose weight!
Have you thought about trying to cut down on sugar? It's hard going, but the health benefits are worth it. Some people cut down gradually, some people go ' old turkey'.
Good luck.
Hi Penel... well, I resisted the choco urge...and been using sweeteners instead of sugar ever since I started...Knowing my body, it slows down on metabolism pretty fast...so must do something to get it going again!
