I have this new determination to lose weight and get fit. I think its because people in my life have heard it all before and are skeptical that I can do, I'm stubborn enough to prove them wrong!

Hi GemmaJMrs,
The fact of the matter is, you very probably can do it.
It's a matter of taking control of what you eat, that is how much, how often and the nutrition value of what you're eating.
And also upping your exercise/activity levels. That helps your body with the weight loss efforts by helping your hormone secretions change to aid the weight loss processes.
There's lots of good and free advice on the NHS live well lose weight pages which are worth reading.
My advice is to start by being clear what your reason for losing weight is. Then find out your BMI (NHS have a good calculator) and make a decision about your target weight.
It's really helpful to have some milestones / mini-targets to tick off as you go.
And then, well, get on with it!
If you have underlying medical conditions, it is probably best to discuss with your GP / Practice Nurse how those might impact upon your planned weight loss, or vice versa.
good on you!
Yey, Good on you Gemma?
first step taken. An as 'returner' has said there's loads of help and advice on here. Also folk are really friendly and supportive and I have to say I'm 3 weeks in which I know wouldn't have been possible without being on this forum.
I've found that some little goals have really helped me too. One of which was to get through the morning without giving in to eating rubbish. And I've also found that once I've done one bit and seen some result it has spurred me on.
Wishing you all the very best.
Ruth
Thanks Guys
I'm just finishing week 2 and starting to find it difficult to keep variety in snacks, making flapjack today, 116 calories per slice. Last week I lost 2lb, hoping for something similar this week, weigh day tomorrow so we'll see!
