Hey there,

There are lots of instructional videos online which you can use with everything from cardio to strength training. I like to use Blogilates, it's Pilates and she only ever really uses a yoga mat - youtube.com/user/blogilates...

You could also try a skipping rope to get your cardio as well. One of the other ladies on here uses a kettle bell which you may be able to get cheaply

Good luck :)

I Make up my own dance aerobics. You can also make your own training circuit using things around the house: steps, tins for weights, along with squats, knee raises, lunges, jog on the spot, push ups, crunches. Start off at 30 seconds on each (depending on your fitness ) and slowly increase the time.

Good idea! I'll try that, thank you!

The NHS provide a 5 week programme of podcasts called Strength and Flexibility which can be done in the house and they also provide other exercises online. Ekhart Yoga have lots of free yoga on YouTube that have a pleasant tone and which are generally accessible to a complete beginner - some specifically to support weight loss or core muscles. I now at least do a practice based on them every single morning (I have missed, oh, 3 in 8 months - just 5-10 minutes) - I just do it in the bathroom and don't even get my mat out. There's also No Excuses workouts. Some pretty much walking on the spot videos. As hazelmae says there is loads online - but there's so much you can spend all your time browsing instead of doing. Of course as pinktwinkledust shows, you can do lots on your own too, but it sounds as though you might need some external motivation to get you started.

And then there's the issue of why you can't exercise outside the house... there's a fabulous person just graduated from NHS C25K who was around 150kgs at the start.

Those sound good. There are those who say you have your own best gym. YOUR OWN BODY.

walking on the spot, pilates, "stepaerobics" can all be done indoors. Yoga is great for relaxation but not really for weight reduction on its own. You don't even need special clothing, what you already wear is ok as long as it's loose and comfortable.

Bear in mind you're not going to run a marathon. It doesn't have to be a trial, just enough to make you puff a bit.

Do check with your doctor first though. There may be a possibility of a referral, and if you go with your questions already written on a piece of paper it will help.

There are some very good home exercise videos online. Lots of exercises to choose from and all can be done in your own home. What's even better is that they are all free to download! Search for a site called Fitness Blender and get downloading! I've downloaded a yoga sequence which is great.
