Hi paula37fat2fit,
Actually having no family to support you might just be a blessing - at least you don't have any family to distract you either.
So if you're mainly buying and cooking for 1 (and a wee one), in some ways it's easier than buying a lot of things you don't really want to eat, because the others in the family still eat them (fatty, creamy, sweet, high-calorie foods).
I'd suggest you have a good read around the NHS live well lose weight web pages.
It's really about reducing the number of calories you take in daily (but sensibly, not excessively) and upping the activity / exercise a bit.
The first is mainly by changing the way you eat - the types of food, cutting back on the higher calorie, higher fat, higher sugar food, eating better choices (more fruit, veg, fish etc. The second part is about doing that as fits in with your life style. I mean if you're on your own with a 2 year old, I'd be surprised if that permits you to be that much of a couch potato.
But perhaps the issue is bad eating habits. Perhaps comfort eating, or boredom eating? Or just eating all the wrong things. Or eating too much of the wrong things.
Well that's what healthy weight loss is about. It's about coming to terms with what you truly eat that has made you overweight and taking control of your eating, your activity / exercise level and through that, taking control of your body weight.
And, really, the only you have to lose is the excess body weight..
However, if you have any underlying medical conditions, please do have a chat with your GP or practice nurse as to how those might impinge upon your weight loss efforts and/or vice versa.
Good luck with your weight loss efforts.
Cheer up............................we are here, make life easy and buy stuff in portion packs, crisps, cheese is my one, you feel more guilty opening more than one portion of something.
Use smaller plates and use smaller portions, and cook more of your fav dinners, hopefully you can choose things you can keep in the fridge and freeze, google lots of recipes, try to go for a walk once a day, with your 2yr old, and enjoy being out, it helps as well as giving you the exercise you both need.
Drink lots of water or water based drinks, not squash , herbal teas are good as is hot marmite or bovril.
If you need to nibble try to choose veg sticks in the evenings, or fruit.
Hope these things help and try to occupy your hands in the evenings to avoid nibbling!!
Hi - its an easy place to get to especially when you are having to bring up a baby.
Along with a good diet you should check out ptprograms.com.au. you can download free cardio fitness programs to do at home. you could even get the 2 year old to join in and make a game of it. Workouts are for beginners to fitness fanatics so there are plenty to choose from. Start with the cardio exercise to help burn the calories.
good luck and keep us posted on your progress
