Hello new members and regular contributors. Welcome to the daily diary, where you can post your meal and exercise plans for Tuesday.

The aims of the Daily Diary are to record plans in order to firm them up and make it more likely they are adhered to. The magic of this site comes from sharing ideas with others pursuing their own weight loss journey. Please help each other and comment on the person’s entry above you or have a good chat with a few members and find friends. The support is phenomenal. Advice given is constructive and with a good heart and may not suit where you are, but six months down the line who knows. Please share your calorie range as per the BMI calculator and calorie count for menus or any alternative method of recording your intake that you may be using. The Daily Diary has played a huge part in my weight loss and I am thankful for the kindness of its members.

Thanks for helping out Hopalong1. Cheers to more water 👍. Fizzy water with 🍋juice here! Bacon and egg is always good isn't it?

I'm following lchf, low carb but not no carb. Healthy fats and no processed foods. No alcohol and no snacking. Exercise is at least 3 laps around the park. I must remember to cinq my new phone with the step counter. 🏃‍♀️

Tuesday looks like this:

B: Milky coffee with a dunking biscuit.

L: HM Bolognese with a little cream on a bed of cabbage pasta. A leftover portobello mushroom.

D: Sheeps' cheese with a drizzle of honey with 1 slice of multicereal bread.

I hope everyone has a good Tuesday 🌈

Hi Tabby,

I have to ask-what is a dunking biscuit? You reminded me I still haven't got a cabbage unless there is one in my veg box today! Have a lovely Tuesday 🙂

Hiya Bee-bop, it's just a big, thick ,biscuit a whole one is about 80 g so I just have half.

Ooo cream in Bolognese is lush! If you like it hot, a sprinkling of peperoncino goes well too. I didn't take a piccy this time! Too late now :)

Hopalong1 profile image

I have written it down, the peperoncino, but have never heard of it. I have sriracha, tabasco, cayenne and chilli flakes. I think from google it is chilli flakes. Is that right? x

Manchegaenlondres profile image
Manchegaenlondres in reply to Hopalong1

Hi Hopalong, I started my weight loss around April 2020 and did follow NHS 12 weeks plan pretty much to the letter to change my food habits. I did print out the daily food record for the week and filled in with calories and exercise. It did help me understand where I was going wrong as I jotted all the extra snacks I had. After a few weeks I started the C25K exercise program . Both things helped me loose weight fairly quickly, and then around June that year I came into this forum, which helped even more. I found out a little about low carbs and decided to check how it would help with my T2 diabetes control. I am not Keto or LCHF per se, but have found their ideas helpful and do try to keep to no more than 125 carbs a day. I rarely eat rice, potatoes, pasta or bread, except for a piece of whole meal or seeded bread some mornings. Nowadays I don’t count my calories strictly but I know, by checking now and then, that I keep generally to no more than 1600. I have not run’ jogged for a while but do an awful lot of brisk walking. Hope this is helpful !

Here’s the Spanish chicken I mentioned @WasYoYo80, Tank_EG , Bee-bop TheTabbyCat springersrule .Just sautéed some onion, unpeeled cloves of garlic, carrot, black peppercorns and bay leaves. After a while added bite sized pieces of chicken and let it simmer for a while. Then added salt and small glass of white wine and let it simmer for another 15 minutes or so. Y buen provecho!

Ps: If you worry about bad breath add a little bit of parley at the end.😃

Completely up to my eyeballs in work and posting late, again! Feeling frazzled but trying to stay consistent with my healthy eating and exercise.

The plan for Tuesday:

Scrambled eggs, mushrooms and granary toast; packed lunch: curried cauliflower soup; and chicken, veg and butter bean casserole. Snacks: Greek yoghurt with blackberries and raspberries, and a bit of blue Stilton with fig chutney.

Exercise: weights and body weight exercises and a climb on my wall

Curried cauliflower soup sounds tasty, is it creamy?

WasYoYo80 profile image
WasYoYo80Maintainer3st 7lbs in reply to Bee-bop

I think puréed cauliflower is quite rich in itself, so I use milk rather than cream.

I sauté an onion, then add in a tablespoon of HM curry powder and cook for a further minute, add the cauliflower and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes. Pour in 500ml milk and 500ml veg stock and bring the soup to the boil; then reduce the heat and simmer gently for 15 minutes, or until the cauliflower florets are just tender. Then I set it aside to cool slightly, blend to a smooth purée, return the soup to the saucepan, season to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper and finish it with a squeeze of lemon juice. I also like to garnish it with chopped fresh coriander.

More exercise.

Brunch-scrambled eggs with leeks, tomatoes and smidgin cheese, 1/2 slice rye toast w/butter. Coffee w/2% milk.

Dinner-salmon with marinade TBD,baked butternut squash, brussel sprouts, maybe a 3rd vegetable. Tea.

Snack-grapes. Rye crackers w/low fat cheese. Lots of water.

Exercise-gym to ride exercise bike and elliptical.

I have times, with a health problem, when I eat three times a day. How would you feel just eating when you are hungry, Maxy6 ? I have been listening to some hypnosis which encourages this. Also try cycling in and out of nutritional ketosis, a day of fasting and one or two days of feasting per week(eating double or triple net carbs) to push things on. Mercola says this will "help your ability to burn fat for fuel". Let me know how you get on what works for you. Your plan looks great. All the best.

Morning all and thanks to Hopalong1 for helping out. Had a computerish day yesterday. Transferred the most important data from my missing website onto Facebook - which then promptly died world-wide😢. Then my website was recovered👍.

With all that going on I got little exercise AGAIN! I did get a decent sleep last night though🤪. Food worked out fairly well. Sour cream and blue cheese sauce turns out to be really nice and very easy. In fact I'm getting to be a fan of blobs of sour cream with dahl and soups etc. Tuesday should be a quieter day so the plan is

B Shreddies / berries

L Gnocchi / meatballs / pesto

D Coconut Chicken curry / brown rice

S Apple/grapes

E shopping including my favourite Asian supermarket. I might also have another go at Tai Chi as well as try yet again for a walk.

Happy Tuesday

Morning all and thanks to Hopalong1 for hosting today's DD -thanks for covering for me, as it turns out I've come down with a stinking cold not that I'm using that as an excuse for forgetting to get my post in on time 🤣

Definitely a mixed day yesterday, good news is I managed to order my chest freezer to allow me to start batch cooking. Bad news is it was so late by the time we were ready for food last night, the planned beef regular morphed into a takeaway. This lead to another case of the Monday Munchies, not helped with me coming down with this cold 😢

Food today is:

B: Cereal and a small bowl of fruit & yoghurt

L: Crumpets with peanut butter plus a banana

D: Last night's planned beef ragu with a yoghurt for dessert

E: Rest day from running today but hopefully walks with Tilly 🐶

Wishing everyone a great day 👍

Good morning Hopalong1 .

I’m back from my weekend festival having had lots of fun, alcohol and snacks but not much healthy food or sleep. I’m now 4lb heavier than I was last week so I am back to my healthy diet.

I have a day off today and I’m off to a gig in Cardiff tonight so we aren’t completely back to normal yet.

I’m calorie counting, 1400-1800, 3 meals, no snacks, reduced carbs, no alcohol

B. Greek yoghurt, nectarine

L. Vegetable soup

D. Gammon, cauliflower cheese, brocolli, carrots, green beans

Have a good day.

Slimming world plan and wheat and dairy free

Breakfast: veggie sausages, rye toast, mushrooms, tomatoes

Lunch: leftover chickpea and tofu stew with brown rice

Dinner: I am not sure as I made the kids cheese and onion pasties to have with chips and mushy peas. I would like the mushy peas with something but, don't have anything made ready for me. I have run out of sweet potatoes 🙄

Thank you Hopalong1 for doing the DD. I had a bad day yesterday not with food. Infact I eat less. I took Roxie out earlier and was in bed for 9pm. Didn’t really have a good sleep, pain keep waking me up. Today is another day. I have to go to Guys hospital this afternoon. Had a short walk with Roxie this morning.

My food for today not really sure when or what.

Had my coffee as usual. ( A real creature of habit with the coffee).

Brunch. Some blackberries, blueberries banana with Greek yogurt.

Later after hospital properly some soup I have in the fridge. (As I will be worn out. )

Day 5 of not spending any money. I will need to buy milk today. Also while at the hospital I will have a skinny latte. Total of £4. Not bad for a weeks spending.

Have a great day. 😊😊

Hope all goes well at the hospital. What will you have as a main meal, Caroline? Your Money Challenge is rubbing off on me. I went through the cupboards yesterday and planned six meals from what is in. I might need a little fresh produce. Yesterday my friend and I bought each other a flat white, bought husband a Mars and me a spring water = £8.40. Thanks for sharing this. All the best xx

Hi Caroline,

Sorry to hear you have been in pain, is the appointment today to help with that? Is your money saving to use up food as well? It is amazing how much we can find in the cupboards. i have been having a sort out here as when my daughter came back from uni and then swiftly went up to Scotland, I said I would use up the food she had left which, we still haven't managed pasta wise! I have no idea why she bought so much of it although as I write that, we were in lockdown I guess. I found out that I have six free Costa drinks to use before March which was a surprise for me so, I had a free Chai latte yesterday which was great. I also found I have 4 Cafe Nero cards all with one stamp off a free coffee which I hadn't realised ( I knew about 2)

Hope you have as gentle day as possible 🙂

Caroline62 profile image
Caroline626 stone in reply to Bee-bop

I had a few free coffees to use up. Which I really enjoyed. Afraid not the hospital appointment is for dental work. This was cancelled when Covid started. Nearly 2 yrs later now it’s getting done. Hopefully after today they may only be 1 or 2 trips to go. 😊

All the very best with your hospital visit. Enjoy your soup, it's a good standby and, if homemade, packs quite a nutritional punch. 🍲

Hi everyone, and great reminder to drink enough water Hopalong1

I've just had to renew my chaperone license which includes sending up to date photo identification - this was a good thing as I was able to see what a chubby chops I was in December just gone! More inspiration to stay on the straight and narrow (narrow being one of the operative words of course).

1890 calories based on the range recommended by the NHS/BMI calculator, vegetarian, savoury snack lover and battling with avoiding the same over the last few weeks, but now back on it!

Breakfast: Egg and not bacon on toast

Lunch: Cauliflower soup

Tea: Lentil bolognese with courgetti

Coffee x 2 and MORE WATER!

Probably a cup of tea or two as I'm catching up with loads of paperwork and I use tea breaks to keep me going - no biscuits in the house, or savoury snacks, so it will be just tea :)

Thanks for hosting Hopalong1, and cheers to another glass full of water. I don't drink enough, but have been making more of an effort in recent days. .Love the sound of your lunch, hope you enjoy it, and congrats on reaching day 5 .

Well an early start for me this morning, - at the surgery for routine blood tests and then a trip to the farm to collect the wee man. He had to go with mummy this morning to her work because I was out early, but it was a good excuse for him to don his boiler suit and boots and round up some sheep on the quad bike.

We plan to do some baking maybe an apple and sultana cake ( Thanks Tank_EG for the inspiration), and then a trip to the park if it stays dry.... Hopefully nursery will be back soon after their covid outbreak . With any luck we might get a few days in before they break up for half term.....

Ive recently been reviewing my weight loss routine, and going to try the nhs 12 week plan

cal range 15 - 1900 , and today looks like

B- Cornflakes

L H/M mushroom soup thanks to BridgeGirl for the recipe,

D -Cod in parsley sauce with Potatoes & green beans

Happy Tuesday everyone :)

Afternoon M0rv3n, sounds like the wee man had quite the adventure this mornin g. If you have the rain like me he'll be glad to be inside baking with you now though. Enjoy your time with him til the nursery reopens.l

I started on the nhs 12 week plan and i found it a really good starting place to change from eating rubbish to eating proper food and getting clued up on portion sizes. Good luck with your change.

Your menu sounds amazing, i love mushroom soup and have become a big fish fan.

Enjoy the rest of the day xx

Good afternoon fellow diarists and Hopalong. Thanks for stepping in to host today. Loving your menu too. I drink loads of water (with dilute squash), sometimes i think possibly too much lol I used to enjoy the odd lager at the pub or a pimms on a friday night but due to medication i 'm advised not to drink so i havent had any for 3 years now. I can't say i miss it. I now have coke as a treat at the pub 😊.

Well today didn't get off to the best of starts. My tomtom watch and its app have decided not to talk to each other so i unpaired them and started again but its still not playing ball. I gave up after following instructions several times for over an hour and then gave up. I'll try again later. Today at school should have been a training session on anaphylaxis and epipens but its been postponed so i'm home all afternoon which actually works well as Eddie puppy is here all day as one of the family members that own her has been rushed in for emergency surgery after not feeling well this morning. To add to the chaos of the day the cockers family are now in isolation as their secondary school age son has tested positive for covid. Although his parents are both doubled jabbed they have to isolate as they are both nhs consultants/surgeons. Other than that i've had a good morning and dodged the worst of the rain. I even fitted in my c25k wk6, r3 at the racecourse. A 25 min jog and i did it still with energy left in the tank. So absolutely chuffed with this 💖💖

My LCHF TMAD plan today is:

L: scrambled egg with mushrooms and cheese (fresh eggs from a friend - gorgeous), pumpkin pie tart with a splash of double cream.

T: Last of the seafood concoction - i've really enjoyed it too.

Exercise: am dog walk, Ecko walk, c25k jog, pottering, housework.

I hope everyone is having a good day xx

Hopalong1Challenge Host3 stone in reply to springersrule

Hello, Good to see you, springersrule . Do you have a recipe for your seafood dish, pwease? You are doing great with the C25K. Roy and I managed 11.4 km walking yesterday. I felt fab and lost 2.25lbs. Now to keep it off for WI, argh!!! Hope the rest of your day goes smoothly, Luvvie xx 😊😊

springersrule profile image
springersruleModeratorHost76kg in reply to Hopalong1

Thanks Hopalong. I took bits from 2 recipes, but this is what i did with what lol: In my soup pot - 4tbsp EVO, 4 cloves garlic, 130g celery, 150g white onion, 200g red & green peppers (fry til onion is translucent). Add spices - 2tsp salt, 2 tsp garlic powder, 2.5 tsp paprika, 1 tsp onion powder, 1 tsp thyme, 1tsp red & black pepper. Add 150g raw red shrimp and 230g cod fillet. When shrimp and cod half cooked add 3x 400g tins of chopped tomatoes, 500g cauliflower rice, 200g cooked cockle meat and 500g cooked mussels. Stir and simmer for (i think it was) 20 mins. All done 😁. Its made 4 of my portion sizes 😂.

I'm so chuffed with my achievements so far on the c25k program. I wasnt sure how far i'd get when i started but after today i know i will be able to complete it. I then hope to join in on a park run 😱😁. Wow, 11.4km is a long way, and to lose a huge amount too is amazing. Well done and i'm sure you can keep it off 💖

It should be a pretty relaxed afternoon now which we be lovely. I dont get them often on a week day 😁.

Hope your day is going well xx

Yeah👏👏👏25 min jog!!! You just have to wait until you can fit it in, don't you! Brill!!

The foods good too. I bet you loved having Eddie all day ,🤞 for the surgery. Things that happen around us affect our days don't they.

Luv to Ecko!!

springersrule profile image
springersruleModeratorHost76kg in reply to TheTabbyCat

You're right of course, its much better waiting for the opportunity of time rather than trying to squash it in somewhere 😊

Oh Eddie's been great. Had a good sleep then has played tuggy with a toy and pringle. She's just this minute gone home. Surgery is still underway, 6 hours now!! It'll be touch and go whether he pulls through but he's very fit and healthy (an endurance cyclist) so that's on his side. These things do affect our days but i'm really pleased to have been able to take it in my stride too.

Ecko sends kisses and says thank you xx

Lovely post, Hopalong1. Yes, isn't the simple business of drinking enough water sometimes a challenge!

For me water is sometimes a wee bit boring, though on I do drink chilled fizzy water because it has a little edge to it. A few ice cubes and a squeeze of citrus juice make all the difference. In Portugal we can get hold of limes easily, but I also use lemons and clementines to ring the changes.

It's a habit thing though, isn't it; the more often one drinks water the more attractive it gets but I have to give myself prompts out of the summer season!

Hopalong1 profile image

Thanks for this, Betty. I too had a slice of lemon and lime today. Yorkshire water is lovely though. Trying to banish all thoughts of gin and tonic. All the best x
