I would steer away from unsustainable fixes since quite often folk revert to their old eating habits having lost weight, have ago at the Nhs weight loss plan, give it a go, and it's free you have nothing to lose -except maybe a few pounds, the other diet companies are only after your cash!

Hi Prin,

Completely agree.

I mean the problems with all these "slimming" shakes, as far as I can see are:

1) What happens when you reach your target weight - do you just keep taking the shakes for the rest of your life?

2) They don't really result in any fundamental change / "re-training" of your eating habits, which is what peope need for a sustained lower body weight. (As one person I know puts it, perhaps rather insensitively, 'eat like a fattie - be like a fattie')

3) Even if you wanted to eat whatever it is that they contain, you could easily achieve that by changes in your shopping list and in what you cook/eat anyhow! Why do you really need to buy these so-called "slimming" shakes / biscuits / meal replacements or whatever?

Having said that, if taking these things genuinely helps a person get their overweight under control - though I don't see how myself - then fine!

But I fear it's much more likely, as you suggest, to lead to weight regain and/or yo-yo dieting.
