It's hard to tell anyone exactly how many calories they should have as everyone is individual. So firstly ask yourself - How many calories are you eating per day (intake), and how many are you burning (output).

If your output number is less than your intake you won't lose weight.

So output MUST be more than intake - i.e. eat less/move more. If you do this you WILL lose weight

Have a look at " myfitnesspal" it's a fantastic site for monitoring your intake. It will also calculate how many calories you should be eating to reduce your weight.

Hi Catherine66 I have the same problem (different age, height and what have you but in same situation) I asked doctors about it the other day when I went for something else (as I thought it was to do with my problem) but doctor told me otherwise. She told me if I want to be losing weight then I shouldn't be having anymore then 1,000 calories but on other sites I have read either no more then 1,200 or 1,400. I have used the myfitnesspal thing and they say 1,200 when I put in all that needs to be.

Good luck and god bless xxx

Good luck and keep to it :) I found that before I found something didn't work and gave up but this time I've just kept at it and I'm eventually getting there :) Slowly but surely and as the doctors say that's the best way! :)

You need to calculate your TDEE and then eat less than it. thefastdiet.co.uk/how-many-...

Try only eating 500 calories on two non-consecutive days a week. The website I've sent you the link to will explain more. I lost over 20 kilos in six months.

You can spread it throughout the day, but I find that once I start eating I want to keep on. I eat far less a day now I never eat breakfast but you do what you feel comfortable with. Michael Mosley eats, say, scrambled eggs and ham for breakfast, then salmon and veg for dinner, I prefer to save all my calories for my evening meal and just drink during the day, maybe have an oxo drink at lunchtime. Maybe you could have a yoghurt for breakfast if you like breakfast.

My fitness pal is a great app. Answer a few simple questions and it works out the calories you need to eat a day . I use it you don't feel you are on a diet and the weight comes off . I'm loosing on average a lb per week. Its so easy

Try measuring your chest waist and hips and you just might be pleasantly surprised. If your clothes are getting looser thats a good indicator that something is happening.
