Well it's been a week. Don't feel any different really! I don't take too much notice to the scales if it's only a pound or two, generally go by how I feel and look. I shall keep going as I am doing for a couple more weeks and hope I will see the difference! Not changing too much in the way of diet, but exercising a lot more.

It's just keeping up your spirit that is so difficult when you can't see or don't feel any different after the first week or two. Will this weight ever come off?? What more can I do?!

How do you get past that exasperation stage? Any tips?

I'd suggest keeping a diary. In theory if you're exercising and don't eat any extra you should lose weight. However, if you don't keep track of what's going in its all too easy to reward your exercise with food and possibly eat more than you think. All the hard work undone.. Besides, unless you eat particularly healthy, you'll be able to see where you can make small changes to help with the weight loss.

Happy healthy eating.

Hiya,

I agree with innerslim.

I first decided ot lose weight in September last year so joined the gym.

I went regularly 2/3 times a week (with maybe 4 weeks off) and slightly changed my diet but not by much.

Gave up in time for Xmas because I'd put weight on!

You are probably still eating too much - I know now looking back that may calorie intake was anything from 2000-2500 cals and up - way too much, so although I was exercising I wasn't losing weight, rather just slowing the rate of weight gain!

If I were you I would look at your diet and have a count of how many calories you are having on average each day. By the sounds of it you probably do need to reduce what you are eating.

Keep up with the exercise tho as it will make you fitter!

the diet only promises 1 or 2 lbs loss per week, that too if we exercise. well, I don't exercise. I am on my third week, I do lose an average a pound a week. good enough so, as I feel I have not truly put a serious effort to this diet+exercise. I truly believe, it is a simpe equation of what we eat and what we burn, burn mroe than we eat equals to weight loss.

don't lose heart, if we keep trying it is bound to make a difference!

It might help to know that exercise uses up body fat

- some of which will be inside your abdomen - and not on show!

Exercise also builds muscle, which weighs more than body fat.

—so maybe it would help to use a tape measure instead of the scales? !

Keep going as it does work, I keep a record on my computer of everything I eat after checking the calories (I do it in excel so its counts the calories for me). It's probably harder if you eat a very varied diet but mine isn't as I'm such a faddy eater although I do keep adding to the list I've made. It makes a difference as it's made me realise that much of what I used to eat was 'wasted' calories as I snacked often rather than ate a proper meal and those calories were much higher than 'proper' food. I'm also exercising more and recently bought a hula hoop and the 'Hooping' DVD to go with it and actually manged 52 turns yesterday without it dropping, I'm on a campaign to get rid of the spare tyre before my daughters wedding in 4 weeks time Best of luck!
