I put myself on myfitnesspal.com if you put your details in it works out how many calories you should be having & you get a diary to fill in which is great for tracking your food all day. I try to cut out as much processed food as I can & have natural sanacks such as nuts and fruit/dried fruit.
Start by looking at the 12 week plan, to loose weight it's all about making sure you consume fewer calories than you need it's not about deprivation of food groups but cutting down what's bad fat super and carbs and including more good fruit and veg. This site is great for tips, like how to include your favourite vice! Excersise burn calories and so helps
you loose weight there are plenty of ideas on here. I am lucky to be able to walk to work so it kills 2 birds with 1 stone! Good luck on your journey
well me and the missus started our weight loss plan yesterday, we've used the meal mixer app to plan our weekly menu, last night we had the veggie jalfrezi and it was quite nice, I have to admit I do like my meat so I thought it lacked a little something! but that's just me.
I did notice that although the recipes all serve 4 people and I did half all the ingredients there was quite a bit left over.
I've also downloaded the couch to 5k podcast on to my ipod and we are starting that today, we're both feeling really positive about this, so hopefully I'll be back on here soon with an update after losing a few pounds.
I made the chicken pittas recipe - so easy to do and delicious, too. Even my teenage boys enjoyed them. Next time, I'll prepare it in advance to make it even easier.
First, work out the calories you need per day to loose weight. There are free calculators online, search 'harris benedict calorie calculator'. Be truthful when it asks about your activity level, most people are sedentary or light activity. It is not asking about your additional new exercise plans.
If the number it gives looks scary then start 100 or 200 calories higher at first.
If you slip up then forgive yourself and keep going but be honest about counting your calories as others have suggested.
Healthy food always has less calories for more on your plate.
All diets work if you stick to them, all diets fail if you don't. It is confusing and I think I have tried them all just to get quick results and then gently slide back to where I started once the initial enthusiasm wore off.
This time I'm not doing a "diet" I'm following the NHS 12 week programme. Ok I'm only on week 2 so early days yet but having skim read the programme, looked at their suggested exercise routines and food ideas this seems to me to be a re-education and whole life style change, so not a diet but something, with a few changes here and there, can be something I can do for life.
It is simple and clear, taking it step by step and I would recommend you have a look at it.
We are all different and nothing is more personal than our weight and finding what is right for each of us.
Whatever you decide find something you feel you can sustain forever and makes sense to you then you will never have to diet again.
