I’m angry. I have pcos. Everything recommended to eat I don’t like. I hate eggs, avocado, salmon, nuts. I can’t afford foods like this which I don’t enjoy. I’m fed up of eating salad everyday and still losing no weight.

Try measuring yourself and adding exercise to the mix. My scale numbers have barely changed but I’m finding that loads of inches are coming off. It’s really frustrating and it’s hard losing weight with PCOS.

I am sorry for your diagnosis, I have it too and by now I am fine with it, I hope you will be too! According to NHS you have more options with your diet: Your diet should include plenty of fruit and vegetables, (at least 5 portions a day), whole foods (such as wholemeal bread, wholegrain cereals and brown rice), lean meats, fish and chicken.

Hi Casestreetx -My daughter has PCOS and similarly to you she doesn’t like eggs or avocado (or oats) which are the staple of soMany breakfast alternatives (she’s been a cereal or toast girl). She’s not keen on alternative flours either (pat, almond, coconut etc) so pancakes and waffles don’t “hit the same” however we’re taking it slowly and trying to find a workable solution. Megan Rossi is worth a read online - getting 30 plant points in a week is one change my daughter can make (variety in 30 different veggies, fruit,

Legumes etc….) in the hope a healthier gut can improve hormone regulation) . I’m also reading the Glucose Revolution which suggests that changing the order of eating makes a difference to glucose spikes so that you can have glucose but to keep it to the end of the meal (fibre first, then protein, then carbs). We have yet to see how this works in practice but basically I think start with small changes you can make and don’t worry about the bigger changes just yet. Small achievable change and food variety will hopefully help with mood also. Good luck finding your path to a healthier space.
