I'm on the waiting list for my ovarian cyst removal operation next year and I am worried about it

I have been having problems with my periods as they have been really unpredictable and heavier than usually are, so I contacted my doctors via e-consult about it and I was sent to the hospital for good tests and ultrasound and MRI scans.

After I'd had my blood test and my scans, I was referred to the gynaecologist as there was some thing on one of my scans that the doctor wasn't sure about and the nice lady gynaecologist I saw explained my results to me in plain English. She also said that my MRI scan showed that there is an 11cm cyst on my right ovary, but the fallopian tube is fine. My left ovary is fine but the fallopian tube is blocked.

I was advised by the gynaecologist and the consultant gynaecologist to have the operation, which I am going to have done.

When the gynaecologist first said that I would need to have the operation, I asked her if it was ok if I talked it over with my fiance and my mum first as I wasn't sure what to do, but after I'd spoken to .y mum and fiance about it, I asked my youngest sister and sister-in-law what they thought and they agreed with my mum and my fiance, so I said to my fiance that I would leave my final decision until mine and my fiance's appointment with the consultant gynaecologist.

I signed the consent form from the operation.and now I've just got to wait for it to come through in the post.

I'm still worrying about it though.

Both my sisters have had ovarian cysts removed. One sister had her full ovary removed as a teenager, and went on to have a child, then in her 30s had issues again, so does not have either. I would recommend getting done as soon as possible as these cysts can grow.My other sister had keyhole in both I believe to remove her cysts. I don't believe she has been trying for Children yet

I worked with someone who had her ovary removed over 40 years ago and had twins, just another story of hope if you would like children.

Surgery is always scary, but in my opinion the positives outweighs the negatives. Think it could cause more problems being there, but obvious dicuss your options with your Dr's.
