Hi I am 23 years old I have been suffering with facial hair Witch includes face neck and chest.I also have oily skin and adult acne. I have been to the doctors about it and had blood test done they all have came to be good results. I’ve been very depressed about it as waxing shaving etc is now getting to much for me I no longer feel like a lady does anyone else suffer from anything like this?

Im 22 and have the same thing, all my blood tests came back normal too and so did my first ultrasound, I pushed and pushed for another scan because I knew something wasn’t right. they offered an internal ultrasound and eventually found follicles on both my ovaries.

If you feel something isn’t right don’t take no for an answer

As for the actual hair growth itself there really isn’t a lot of advice I can give you as I’ve not found much to help myself, but you are not alone! If you want someone to talk to feel free to message me xx

Agree with Tinytina85 to push for more scans etc as I’m in a similar position of thinking I have pcos but my blood tests came back ‘normal’- I requested a copy of my blood tests and I don’t think they are normal (LH quite high) which I clarified and they have now referred me to gynae. I’ve read they are meant to do the tests on day 2/3 for accurate results which I didn’t have either.

I have a friend who has been diagnosed with pcos and she gets laser hair removal done which she finds makes the hair grow back finer and slower but not permanent. She’s also heard of a more permanent solution called electrolysis which she’s planning to do after lockdown.

I have really bad acne and was referred to a dermatologist about a year ago and found both Zineryt and Epiduo products have helped. I was given different antibiotics in the past and they never helped so am much preferring topical treatments.

I know it’s annoying that with the hair removal it will cost you money to have done.. but hopefully this provides some comfort that there are options out there.

Hey Nanna,97,

I'm 24 and have suffered from the facial hair, weight gain and general depression for years. I finally got diagnosed with pcos early this year but because of my weight I couldn't take the medication that can decrease the levels of facial hair. I ended up shaving and have done so for years and it just keeps growing back thicker and darker and I feel like a man and it makes me really self conscious about going out and not wearing make up.

I've just recently started using hard wax which works really well. It goes on the skin hot so it opens the follicles and really gets grip of the hair and pulls it all out. It's only around £30 for one of the machines and the wax lasts a while so I would suggest trying that. As for acne, I haven't experienced it myself but maybe get in touch with a dermatologist?

I hope this helps and if you ever want to talk about it, feel free to inbox me!
