Hi all

I am on the combined pill currently to treat symptoms of PCOS (helps with my acne and excessive hair growth) but it also makes my moods horrible and makes me feel really low. Does anyone have any alternatives that they can suggest that may have worked for them in treating symptoms?

Thank you x

Hiya! Know exactly how you feel on this one. I suffered terribly mood sings on the combined pill and eventually had to come off the one that did work because it pushed my blood pressure up. I have Endometriosis as well so the mirena (hormonal progesterone) coil was offered to me and I'm now on my 3rd one. The initial settling in saw me bloated with a breakout of acne but my weight has been really stable for a long time and it's given me space to focus on general lifestyle changes e.g. exercise, nutrition, stress reduction etc. to manage things long term.

It's worth discussing other options with your doctor to see what might be best for you and what you're trying to achieve with your symptoms.

Thank you for your reply! I'm a bit unsure about the coil but you're right, definitely worth discussing with the doctor. Don't think the pill is for me long term! Appreciate your help :)
