I've been told by my doctor that I need to heal my gut to manage my insulin and pcos symptoms better.

Can anyone give me a good pcos friendly detox program I can follow to help me cleanse and heal my gut?

I would just eat live yoghurt daily (full fat as this can pass through the gut acid) as this will sort out your gut in a few weeks. I personally don't think we need to detox as our body is very efficient at doing it itself. I have been eating easiyo yoghurt since I had a undiagnosed sinus infection 4 years ago (so had 4 months of antibiotics which was hell for my gut) and I am never ill since having it daily.

Good gut bacteria can transform your health generally in my view.

Hi there

I agree that yoghurt based products are great for the gut. In particular, kefir is suppose to be great. A really enjoyable book I read on the subject with a detox program is the gut makeover by Jeannette Hyde. It talks about foods the nourish the gut as well as lifestyle factors that influence it.

Best of luck!

Giving up sugar will really help your gut and your PCOS. I read a good book called the period repair manual

Hi,

I would recomend seeing a nutritionist specialising in hormonal conditions! They can help design a program specific to you!!! and monitor your progress. There are lots of great specialists and even if there isn't one need you, most are happy to do Skype sessions!

In my experience this is really worth it as you can have reassurance that you are doing the right thing and have help and encouragement! Doing things properly alone involves much stronger will power (something I struggle with...) and there is the danger your doing the wrong thing for your specific gut.

Good luck!!!!

Also I agree that live probiotics like kefir and home made yoghurt (essay etc) are great, just make sure not to buy the cheep sugary yoghurt drinks that are a waste of money and counter productive due to all the sugar!
