Types of PCOS?

Hello ladies,

Apologies for the lost post but please bear with me.

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was about 25 via blood test which showed I wasn’t ovulating and a scan which showed cysts on my ovaries. I was put on metformin (standard) and have been on it ever since! I am now 32!

In have been trying for a baby for 7 years. Went through 6 rounds of clomid where I did appear to ovulate (at my scans they could see follicles developing etc) but now I’m not so sure I did 🤔 I’ve had one cycle of IVF with one fresh transfer and 2 frozen embryo transfers and only ever had one positive pregnancy test which sadly ended in a chemical pregnancy (brief positive test which then faded)

I have long cycles anyway 32-35 but they are now even longer after the chemical pregnancy around 38 days and I have never had a positive ovulation test ever!

IVF has really taken its toll and I would love to be able to try and get my PCOS under control with supplements, lifestyle and diet changes and conceive naturally. Something which I didn’t even realise was possible until I started to do some research.

As I’ve been looking in to PCOS in general I’ve discovered there are different types, mainly insulin resistance and inflammatory. I have no idea what type I have, I was just told PCOS and given medication. That was it.

Can anyone tell me what benefit I would get from finding out what type I have? Would it help me be able to treat it better for example? And also, if you have found out what type you have how did you do it? What tests did you have?

Thanks

Hello, I don’t know what type I have but as soon as I had the diagnosis my doctor told me to start Inofolic supplements twice a day, omega 3 supplements once a day and to stick to a Mediterranean diet. I don’t suffer with hair loss or weight struggles but I do get acne. I was told I don’t ovulate, I do get periods however my cycle is 32-44 days long. Since starting the supplements and diet I actually had my first positive ovulation test this month (first ever) and my acne has reduced slightly. Inofolic needs to be taken for around 3 months to see max benefits apparently.
